Serenity

I wrote this about 7 months ago, and entered it in a poetry competition, one of those online ones, and it was supposedly published after I won their semi-finals, but I didn't have the money to buy the book it was in.

I sit here all alone.

The darkness surrounds me.
The only sound is that of my children
Their gentle breathing as they dream

One moment tumbles into the next
In the late night hours.

I wait for the constant thoughts to subside.

Thoughts of death and life,
hate and love,
sadness and happiness.

Serenity.
I only find it in the darkness.
While my children sleep and dream.

I sit here all alone.

and yes I did, I sort of figured it was a scam after about the 20th email I got. Oh well, didn't cost me anything other then some time.

 

I really like it. It seems dark yet somehow very mellow creating a very luminous effect. Good job.

I liked this, it generated a slight Push-pull factor for me, like I would imagine a painting in the Baroque period.
