The band isn't the one selling out, it's the cd! "Meteora" was released in North America today, and Internationally yesterday. It's almost a guarantee that the new album will hit figures of over 1 million copies sold worldwide, a platinum status. Stores such as Walmart, and some Best Buy and Target outlets which have more than 600 copies have all sold out in just hours. People are camping outside the stores trying to ensure their copy, others are pipping off school and showing up at stores hours ahead of opening time. Here's an example of "Meteora" selling out: Walmart Please note: This does not mean the actual store is out of copies, it means the online store has sold out. Thanks to Exthuse for bring this to our attention!
thats why I got to Target when they opened, so I'd have a copy How long to you think it will take for Meteora to sell 1 million copies? Im thinking maybe a month at the most.
i'm betting my money it'll be the best debut week selling album so far this year, and more money that it'll be the best-week sales for a rock album
My dad said he was gonna buy it as he went to do work and come home with it. If he doesnt come home with Meteora I'll be heavily bummed .
Wow! I am glad a lot of people are buying the album everywhere. I am so happy I got my copy at FYE when it opened this morning!
when me and my friends were getting it today at tower, we already noticed that more than half at the new releases stands were gone. when i got in line, i saw other people getting in the line holding Meteora. my friend mentioned how if they're doing so well in one store in one city, they must be sky-rocketing everywhere else. note: METEORA is AMAZING
One-Day Sales!!!LINKIN TO PARK IT AT #1 http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPa...e.cgi?news04225 ONE-DAY SALES:LINKIN TO PARK IT AT #1 Rap-Rockers Dominate as Celine Dion Shows Top 5 Heart March 26, 2003 After several weeks of charts dominated by 50 Cent and Grammy darling Norah Jones, Southern California rap-rockers Linkin Park are here to take over. Meteora (Warner Bros.), the band’s hotly anticipated sophomore release, should sell anywhere from 900k to 1 million in its first week, according to early reports from national accounts. That, of course, will make it an easy #1 on next week’s chart. Linkin Park’s 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory, sold 50k in its first week and has sold nearly 8 million in the U.S. to date. Meanwhile, in a far different part of the musical spectrum, another big debut is brewing: Canadian diva Celine Dion’s new release, One Heart (Epic)—launched in sync with the opening of her three-year Las Vegas show, a major television special and her own perfume—appears on track to sell around 600k this week, giving Sin City oddsmakers every reason to believe it will come in at #2. Of course, last night’s television special is the proverbial wild card in the Dion mix and could drive her number even higher, but its effect won’t be known until later in the week. Dion’s last album, A New Day Has Come, released almost exactly a year ago, moved 530k in its first week and has sold nearly 3 million in the U.S. to date. Also streeting yesterday was the Now 12 compilation (Capitol) featuring hits from Jay-Z, J.Lo, Nelly, Justin Timberlake and others. Early reports indicate it will sell in the neighborhood of 250k for the week, making it a probable #3 and easily placing it in the Top 5, regardless. The previous Now installment, Now 11 (Universal), came out last November and sold 320k in its first week. It has sold 1.9 million in the U.S. to date.
