As you probably know, System Of A Down went on hiatus after Ozzfest '06. All the members of the band are working on their solo projects. Serj Tankian released his first solo album last year, and Shavo is working on a banda called Achozen, with some guys of Wu Tang Clan. But what about Daron and John ? They started a band called Scars On Broadway, along with three unknown (for the moment) musicians. They just released their first song today, called 'They Say', and you can listen to it on their website or myspace : http://www.scarsonbroadway.com/ or http://www.myspace.com/scarsonbroadway There's no confirmed release date for their debut album yet, but it would be released (most probably) on summer. What do you think about it ?
Honestly, I think it's awful. The riff is basic, bland, boring. Vocals are below par, drums are simple. Just, not that good :/
it's only one song so far, but wow.... what crap...... and he wanted to be the lead vocalist for System? glad he was only backing..... Serj all the way, no offense to System fans or fans of Daron, just.... wow....
I actually thought it was awesome. Daron's vocals have improved heeps. I though Scars On Broadway would be pretty bad, but i've changed my mind now.
I want the time I wasted listening to that back. It isn't absolutely horrible, though... it's just not good. I suppose that's redeeming?
Almost TOO simple of a song, but still catchy. My money's on it being the first single. I'm actually in the minority who always liked Daron's vocals better than Serj's. Serj to me sounds like he should be singing opera, not rock, because his vibrato is so over the top. Serj's solo album kills this in terms of songwriting though, but I have confidence that Daron has better songs than this.
after listening to it a couple more times, I like it more and more. It's just something different from SOAD. With Serj's solo stuff, it was almost like listening to a new System record, but with Daron/John, it's something sort of new, but has a slight SOAD feel to it. overall, once I hear more, I may like this band more and more.
Someone should make a mashup album, mashing up Serj's solo effort and the Scars On Broadway album coming out. That would be cool.
