I hadn't paid attention before...Cove is screaming his head off in the first track.

Maybe his loss of vocal range will result in more screaming?

Well to be honest, The S/T wasn't even IN his range. Anthony is a huge role model to him and that is why he always attempted the high notes, but his Deep screams are what he does best live and whatnot, so he's finally singing in his range.

I know what you're saying, but the fact that Cove hit those notes means they're within his range. He wouldn't have been able to hit them if they weren't in his range. I'd guarantee the reason he tried singing those high notes all the time is simply because that's what Saosin fans were used to hearing.

Yeah yeah I know he CAN hit them but I'm saying live, He has a good live show with the higher songs usually, but not as much as he should. A LOT of times he'll miss the note or sound really flat.

I think writing lower toned and better songs for his voice will, in the end, result in a better live experience with him.

I still honestly believe if ANYONE were to replace Anthony Green.

Cove Reber is the perfect replacement because he takes the older songs to heart, sure he changes up some lyrics a LITTLE bit but the live DVD showed just how he really can make the songs his own.

Yeah, I know what you mean. He respects Saosin's past a lot. Not a lot of bands who get new singers are accustomed to their new singers respecting their pasts like they should, especially when they're such a popular band like Saosin. Even with just the one EP, they were huge, and Cove knew that, obviously.

I guess Cove was singing Seven Years in his English class when his friend told him that Anthony left and he skipped class and went home, checked their website and found out he was like a few months late. That's why he sent in his audition tape to them instead of trying out because they were tired of vocalists they didn't like.

Also in one of their first shows with Cove, after the show Anthony came up to him (was in the audience) and told him he was destined to sing those songs, and that he put more heart into them than Anthony ever did when he sang them live.

and apparently Cove has wanted to quit Saosin a few times in the past, each time he called Anthony and talked about it and Anthony told him not to give up and stuff.

I'd shoot Cove if he ever quit. Hypothetically, of course.

I don't really blame him for contemplating leaving. When I saw Alexisonfire towards the end of last year he (Saosin were in between Aof and The Ghost Of A Thousand on the bill) had a lot of cups thrown at him. They could've been people who just don't like Saosin, but they could just as well have been Anthony Green fanboys as far as I can tell. Some people honestly seem to have attatchment issues as far as Anthony leaving Saosin is concerned and as such Cove has gotten a lot of shit from them, which is unfair as, at least when it comes to singing, he really isn't much worse if at all.

I will say I believe Anthony is 3X the singer Cove is, but that also is taking in ALL of his experience.

Cove was fresh out of high school, only singing in certain functions and 2 small HS bands (Mormon In The Middle PWNS). So imagine joining a force that Saosin was.

Whereas Anthony is older, has participated in many backing vox jobs for bands. He was in a high school band, another project, left home to be in his first "serious" band (Saosin) got tired of what he was doing and returned home to make what he really wanted to make with one of his best friends (Collin Frangicetto) and now has his own solo album out.

This is my PERSONAL opinion but I believe Anthony sings with more heart and emotion. Watch Circa's filmed live set in Sydney, the last 2 songs (Stolen & Meet Me In Montauk) are mindblowing.

I don't know that experience makes you a better singer. One of my friends has been in choir since fourth grade and he's a horrible singer (he's very nasally, which is awful). I know what you meant, though. Anthony's better at coping with the negativity better than Cove is. Cove probably didn't consider all the cons to joining his favorite band, if that makes any sense.

Hey there's no arguing here, just comparison

Yeah Will I agree, I should have said VOCALIST not singer.

but also personal preference I like Anthony better, Cove is definitely one of my favorites though. He has a unique tone.

Like Cove sounds BEAST on Why Can't You See, Let Go Control, I Can Tell..., It's Far Better To Learn, Finding Home, It's So Simple, Mookies Last Christmas (Acoustic) and 3rd Measurement In C (Piano), also the Bury Your Head version from the Black EP is best, the S/T..eeeh.

Every time I hear the version of "Bury Your Head" on Saosin I always feel like it's not the version they meant to put on the record. I mean, the drums sound poorly-mixed, for one thing. I think the version from the black EP is my favorite version... except for maybe the Atticus version.

    I don't think I've heard the Atticus one..wow that's a shocker for me.

The alternate version of Sleepers is AMAZING though, it was on a Capitol Comp I think.

Yeah. It was on Dragging the Lake, Vol. 3 or something like that. I'd have to listen to it again to remember how it's different, but I think it's basically similar to the version that was on the black EP.

What alternate version of "Sleepers"? The one from the black EP? Or is this completely different?

I have a bit of an affinity for "Love Maker" 'cause I stared at Beau, Chris and Cove for almost a whole day while they finished it up and worked on the acoustic version. ^_^
