So... I've been thinking about it and still have no clue. The phrase "Rolling in the deep." What the hell does it mean?
Nice first post, and agreed. The small tweaks the band definitely gave the song a new feeling. Welcome to the LPA!
Somebody posted an article about that in the shoutbox a while ago.. I forgot what it actually said though haha
I agree with everything you said, Chester's high pitched part at the end just makes the whole song for me. I do like Adele's version too.
I'm not a huge fan of Adele. She exaggerates too much in her songs, voice-wise, in my opinion. Chesters version however.. wow. I still have goosebumps when listening to it. He gives the song so much pain and passion and despair that it just breaks you heart in two. I believe him the words way more than I believe Adele what she sings.
The song needs energy? Well, you must absolutely HATE John Legend's version:
I found this fitting. 71 versions of people covering "Rolling in the Deep." My favorite numbers are 61 and 71.
Hehe, I literally posted the full version of #71 right before you did. What I don't like about your video is it doesn't actually give NAME credit to the people covering the song. It's a fairly versatile song. The strength of it carries over in a way that different interpretations still sound amazing. Haha! That's awesome! I agree with you Minus. It should have had the names. I found the list of links though... Are Boyce Avenue a cover band or something? ALL I hear from them are covers of popular songs. Btw, digging that John Legend cover. Now he did it justice. He nailed the inflections perfectly, unlike Chester's version. Not being hard on him though... as a rock singer it shouldn't come as easily as it does for John Legend.
wondering what's the meaning of "rolling in the deep" is like wondering what's the meaning of "you had my heart inside of your hands" insn't it ? XD
So I asked on facebook and my old coworkers from Best Buy pretty much came up with this: "according to Adele who wrote the song, ""adaptation of a kind of slang, slur phrase in the UK called 'roll deep,' which means to have someone, always have someone that has your back, and you're never on your own, if you're ever in trouble you've always got someone who's going to come and help you fight it or whatever like that. And that's how I felt in the relationship that the record's about, especially 'Rolling in the Deep.' That's how I felt, you know, I thought that's what I was always going to have, and um, it ended up not being the case.""
