I know this is kinda late to say, but after getting into Adele lately I listened to LP's cover of Rolling In The Deep. And I'm sorry to say, but Chester's voice was not cut out for that song. His voice is too harsh and too brisk for the notes.
I disagree. I think Chester's voice brings a new intimacy to the melody. I also feel more emotion from Chester than I do from Adele.
I agree. Honestly I'm not a big fan of LP's rendition of the song. The composition doesn't work for the energy of the song and Chester sounds quite out of place.
I think the lack of energy was due to how they made the track more of an unplugged version of the song.
I like Chesters range better. Adeles feels stale (for lack of a better word) I also agree with hybrid. The emotion is better as well although I'm sure her live version is more emotional. At least I would hope so
LP gave the song a slower tempo, thus making the song "less energetic." When I hear Adele's studio version, the tempo is quicker and it seems like she rushes over some of the lyrics. Yes, Adele's version has more "energy," however, it lacks the feeling of emotion that LP's version has. Either way, I think it was cool that LP didn't try doing the song exactly like Adele did. They've made it their own, which is admirable.
Adele's version sounds better, because it's her song. The song suits her voice, and her voice suits the song. It's also a song for a particular style of singing, and that's Adele's singing style. The least LP can do (they're a rock band btw where the lead vocalist has a metal-ish and grunge-ish voice) is not to sound awful covering that song. I think they pulled out a decent interpretation of it.
I prefer the cover to the original to be honest. There's too much going on for me in the original to get into it.
The song needed energy to bring out the momentum of the lyrics. Adele's voice added that power to the music while Cheater rather dragged it down. :-|
Not a fan of either version to be honest XD but I can say, Adele's orginal is musically better, but I preffer Chester vocally. Either way, LP should have written a full band version of the song. It really needs a good drum part to bring it to life.
