September so I could kick my last school year off with it. October or November seems more likely, though.
Single release sometime in the last couple months of the year, with the album dropping in January (accompanied by a second single around the same time). They'll probably avoid November/December entirely so as not to get lost in the disproportionate number of albums that always come out during the holiday season. Holding off until January pretty much guarantees them a much stronger week of release, both in sales and chart positions. I'd bet money on them headlining KROQ's Almost Acoustic Xmas this year, possibly as the first show of the touring cycle. Would be nice to see them start off this touring cycle with a U.S. arena tour in January/February, considering most of their last one got cancelled.
Interesting. I disagree, however, since LP has been pretty clueless with waiting for the right season to release their album. LT and THP both being released in June, sharing release dates with Maroon 5, Lana Del Rey, Justin Bieber... On the other hand, November is LPU time, not sure if they want that to be album time aswell. Aaaand if there indeed wasn't a studio album released in 2016, I'd win my bet so that'd be nice.
I think single in September and album in October/November. Honestly, at this point, I somehow have a feeling that they won't take their time until next year anymore.
June isn't a particularly bad part of the year to release an album, they just got really unlucky with who else had stuff coming out the same week. Kind of surprised WB didn't move up the release date of either of those albums once they saw the competition they had, but either they thought LP's album-buying fanbase was different enough that it wouldn't matter, or they just didn't feel like throwing the money behind it. I think LP's fallen way down WB's priority list in the years since A Thousand Suns...stuff like this coupled with noticeably shorter touring cycles and less in the way of "special edition" album releases seems to indicate less funding...then again, maybe LP just blows through their money from the label by renting out NRG or EastWest for the better part of a year every time they decide to make an album.
Yeah, I was just thinking how renting studios is fucking expensive. And LP rents these studios for so long. Also, does anyone know the name of the studio they're in now?
They're at Larrabee Studios again, where they also did part of The Hunting Party. The Facebook stream where Mike mentions Manny Marroquin's room being down the hall is a giveaway, Manny works at Larrabee so much he has his own permanent studio space there.
They could easily record at Mike's house but I guess he doesn't like that idea much I wish I had a home studio setup like his.
I know why the guys are at Larrabee Studios. There's this vegan kitchen across the street. It's the only condition for Rob and Brad, so they don't leave the band.
September? Seems too soon. I don't know how far along they are yet, but they might want more time to promote the album and a new tour to go with it. It's possible though. November? It's usually packed, not sure they'd want to compete there. But then again, I don't think people who are fans of the band are suddenly not going to buy the album because something is else is out instead. Like, I really doubt Lana Del Rey took away sales from THP. Maybe January and a single in November. Unless they don't want to miss the Holiday season and release it in October with a single in August/September. They've been releasing albums every two years for a while now, so I wonder if that will change this time. But it sounds like these new songs are coming together really well, so the process might not take as long as I think.
