Random Thoughts 23!

For those concerned over my tweet earlier (I was in the ER), here's an explanation:

Basically about two weeks ago I started developing a very irritating and painful "rash" underneath my armpit that steadily grew worse and worse as the days progressed. At first I thought it was a simple deodorant rash and wrote it off as such, but then within a few days two hard lumps started to develop underneath my armpit, I started getting fever like symptoms and the the pain started to get progressively worse to the point I couldn't even raise my arm over my shoulder anymore.


Yesterday the "rash" spread throughout my entire upper arm, and my armpit became completely red and totally inflamed. This morning it looked twice as bad as it did yesterday so I decided it was time to go to the hospital. It turns out what I wrote off as a simple "deodorant rash" was actually a very bad lymph node/skin infection and I'm going to be on antibiotics for the next two weeks, as well as going to followup appointments to make sure the lumps don't become all pus-filled/need to be drained and all of that other disgusting fun stuff.

What's fun is that none of the doctors have any clue as to how the skin infection happened and all agreed it looked pretty nasty. The doctor who prescribed my meds said that normally the skin infection I have is caused by an attack from a cat or similar wild animal, but seeing as I'm not allergic to anything (at least from my knowledge) and wasn't attacked by a cat, he finds it bizarre that I got this infection the first place.

They're waiting on the blood results to make sure everything else checks out, but either way, that's basically it.
