To be fair, nowadays "punk" is as broad (and misleading) a term as "emo."

Yea, which is one of the reasons I wanted you to not associate it with Panic

I'm all for calling everything alt rock though, seriously.

Well, they do have a lot of pop punk influence on their debut album. Not so much at all on their new album though. I generally just call them a pop rock band when I have to define them. Sometimes power pop, sometimes alternative rock.

Then again, I'd rather just call them a rock band.

I heard someone use the genre "post-rock" last week.

Can someone explain how something can be post-rock? Worse than mallcore.

The official "Cool 101" rules state that you can't listen to anything that's predominately labelled 'post-something', 'something-emo' or 'something-core'.

Soundgarden & Alice in Chains are superior IMO.

Although I wouldn't class STP as grunge. Grunge as I view it was just the seattle rock scene. Then the word just spiralled out of control to include every rock band that sounded a bit alike.

Every band Will likes have bad hair!

Go look up "Am I Inside", "Brother", "Got Me Wrong", "Whale & Whasp" and perhaps "Shame In You"

Layne Staley & Jerry Cantrell were a once in a lifetime rock vocal combination.

Half the bands of today wouldn't be around if it weren't for Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell.
