I never liked how the drums sounded throughout the first two thirds and I wish that the second verse and chorus were far more intense instrumentally. Even having the guitar a bit louder would have fixed that, in my opinion, and you can hear how that might've sounded in the mix for the "Gundam" game. I respect that the band pulled back on guitar stacks for "A Thousand Suns" but I feel like the instrumental elements in "The Catalyst" don't support the aggressive vocals as well as they could. Once the song reaches the breakdown, though, it's all good from there on.
I like that the first two-thirds of the catalyst sounds kinda empty, makes the ending all the more satisfying. What does the low voice say before the second drop in the I'll be Gone Vice remix? Ride the bassline?
Here's something I have been wondering about for a while now. Would anyone here recommend subscribing to an LPU membership primarily for getting LPU CD's? This has really been the only reason I have contemplated becoming a member. While I would be absolutely thrilled to see LP live, I have no idea when that could ever happen for me. I am a huge fan of their LPU releases and always wait with baited breath when a new one is released Speaking of which, is anyone starting to become excited for the possibilities of LPU 15?
The possibilities are: more demos. Mostly instrumental ones. To me, the CDs aren't worth the membership fee. I wish I could just buy them without having to join the fanclub but it's no big deal.
You're probably right about LPU 15 having a lot of instrumental demos, though this may not be a bad thing. If you're interested in just the CD's, Amazon or eBay might be good places to look for them. Of course, there are other illicit methods of getting the CD's but I do my best to not get involved in that. I would rather buy the CD's to further support the band so they can continue to make great music.
The problem with buying the LPU CDs from the LPU store, for me, is that the shipping is so damn expensive. I still do it, but damn that sucks.
Wouldn't you receive it for free if you had the right kind of membership? Wouldn't that be a better deal?
As are all the rest of us! The endless speculation will no doubt begin once the first official news surfaces on the upcoming album. Unless, of course, the band just reveals the release date immediately (I'm actually kind of hoping that happens this time).
I'd actually really like to forget about the idea of a new Linkin Park album before one gets announced. Just personally. Anyway, the band members have said more than once that mid-2016 is when they expect to put out a new release
Huh, didn't know that an ETA was already determined. Although, that means it would be either two years exactly or a little less since THP was released. I just hope that the band doesn't have to rush one or more songs for the sake of the deadline. On the other hand, increased pressure on them might spark more creativity (maybe).
There is war going down in facebook comments under fort minor related article which i think kind of funny
As much as I love hype in general, and loved the puzzles etc. during the LT cycle, the release of GATS was absolutely amazing. Suddenly, not only did we have a new LP song, we had one of the most surprising, unique, tracks that the band had ever put out, and it sky-rocketed the hype for the new album. I really hope they can do the same in 2016. It was like a massive "Fuck you" to the people who thought the band were "going pop" after LT/Recharged/ALTNC.
