That "Calm Before The Storm: Fort Minor" title actually got me pumped up for a Fort Minor album... Then I realized that this is the title for a video series of this channel... Then I heard that two new instrumentals and immediately hoped that these would be new Fort Minor tracks. Guess I still badly want this to happen.
He looks so dead the whole way through. BTW, Mike's AMA starts in just over half an hour, just a heads up for anyone who forgot. Gotta get some good questions in early!
Found this on Mike's AMA. Never knew it existed. ...why.
Linkin Park haven't been popular enough to warrant any further Kidz Bop reworkings, thankfully. Anyway, I think that we've learned a lot about Shinoda thanks to his AMA answers. I mean, did you guys know that he's worked with Rick Rubin? Read about that and more surprising facts in this article. You won't believe #8!
That cover came out of nowhere, and among other things proved Chester could still deliver a mesmerizing performance.
Yeah, Chester nailed Rolling in the Deep. Adelle did a great job with the original version, too, showcasing her powerful vocal range. LP-wise, I downloaded every (I think) Hybrid Theory Demo CD currently known to humankind on my iPod. Only yesterday did I finally discover just how static-filled the 8-Track Demo CD is on certain songs! I downloaded the 6, 7, and 8-Track CDs and have had the 2-Track and 9-Track for a short while. I also downloaded the (in)famous Xero Demo Tape (not the 2011 Remaster on this site). The quality actually seemed a little worse on that, so I'll probably re-download the 2011 Remaster soon. Last but not least, I downloaded Hybrid Theory Unmastered, since I really like some of the alternate mixes on that CD (and some of the working song titles). Wow, I really am a sucker for demos, alternate versions and the like! Is anyone else really into these demo CDs?
I don't like those demo CDs specifically but I do collect alternate versions of songs I like, in general.
Where does this duck-sized-Brad-thing come from again? I've already heard it somewhere... Also, #8 is truly groundbreaking, indeed.
I'm totally a sucker for demos, especially the ones form that era, for more or less because it was the formative years of the band and those demos are great insight into that time!
Hey guys, don't know where the LPU thread is on here but LPU is looking for fans to complete this survey. If you could, please take a moment to fill it out: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MSBG6B7
Is it my imagination after reading about the Loudness war, or are LP's singles mixed poorly compared to the rest of the album? UIG compared to the rest of THP, Catalyst compared to ATS, BID compared to some of LT, etc. Related: With LP having released all the stems for some songs, anyone ever bother to make cleaner mixes? Or is that even possible?
There's probably more intense time pressure when the singles are undergoing final preparations, I guess
Chester mentioned during the documentary (Meeting of a Thousand Suns) that "they" (I'm assuming he was referring to the label), always turn up the vocals a lot for singles, so that may be what you're hearing. I think the Catalyst is mixed very well though, and you do have full multitracks for it, so you could mix it yourself pretty easily.
