I disagree with him too. Sure, ATS was the bigger departure... but only in comparison to the first two albums. Looking at it chronologically, ATS was just as much of a departure as MTM had been in the context of the band's career. Except ATS didn't come as as much of a surprise as MTM did, it was a natural step further.

Okay... although I'd argue that some of the singles ("Leave Out All the Rest", "Shadow of the Day") had pretty strong lyrics.

I can see that. It's hard for me to say that A Thousand Suns didn't come as much of a surprise. It shocked me - of course, it did so in the best way. I see what you mean though, the band was heading that direction.

I can see that. I think they are strong lyrics, but that to me is relative to what had come before. Otherwise, I think the band's strongest lyrics came on A Thousand Suns, and even to some extent on LIVING THINGS. In my opinion, the lyricism on those two records trump efforts on all others.

Third Encore is an LA rehearsal space that Linkin Park use. That recording of "Given Up" is from a rehearsal session at Third Encore. :)

I am now convinced that "Waiting for the End" is the best LP song ever made

I wonder if they could make an appearance on SNL at some point this year between touring.

Yeah, that'd be cool. "Until It's Gone" and "Final Masquerade" would be the worst that they could do and that's not at all bad.

I really want them to show up in a skit. Chester, Brad and Dave would be perfect for skits. (I think Mike's too serious now haha)

I couldn't really see them acting. :p Maybe Chester but I don't know if he's much of a stage actor these days

EDIT: regardless, a skit about Linkin Park, even if it's bad, would be alright!

It would be cool to see Jared Leto join LP on-stage for some "The Hunting Party" songs when they and 30STM tour together

'She Couldn't' is a pretty scarcely known song I believe.

Is rarity really a thing in today's Internet age?

My answer to your question would be "Pictureboard" simply because, as far as I know, it's literally rare.
