Since you are an undecided voter and election day is on Tuesday, have you made your decision yet on who you are voting for?
A little late now, but I wish I would have found out how to vote. The first election I was able to and I missed out. There really is no excuse. I didn't try hard enough to find out how the process works. I'm already registered, but I'll vote for Obama in 2012.
It seems based on his posts that he will either not vote at all, or lean McCain, but I'm hoping he will consider voting for Obama. If not, well I just hope he makes the right choice.
I told myself long before I was 18 that if I did one thing with my life, it would be voting. Making sure to research everything and choose responsibly, allowing my voice to be heard. One vote might not matter much but it's one vote that means something to me.
I'm not sure how you thought I was leaning McCain when I have stated many times I have been leaning Obama for months. I have just been waiting for him either to inspire and/or sell me on his plans and/or dump Biden as his VP. Well he definitely didnt do one and the other.....eh, not so much either. After reading the fact checking from Obama's 30 minute infomerical last night, he actually seems more like Bush (cutting taxes, increase the deficit). Which is ironic since he has been saying over and over and over and over that McCain is 4 more years of Bush. No, this doesnt mean I am suddenly switching to McCain's side because it would take a miracle of epic proportions for that to happen. The Republicans of the last 8 years have lost their way and they have lost me as a supporter. The only message McCain has said in the last 3 months that I actually felt hope about (it died quickly though) was when he said he intends to balance the budget. More irony because that is what Clinton intended when he ran. Anyway, I plan to vote for a 3rd party candidate and I actually may do so for the rest of my life. Especially when I get to vote against Feinstein and Boxer here in California. I strongly believe that this country needs a viable 3rd party or we may be finished as a nation within a couple generations. The corruption and greed of Dems and Republicans have turned me off. I am a registered Republican but I am changing to Independent following this election. That is a great way to look at it. Too many people vote with their heart and not their mind and that is dangerous. Honestly, if I voted my heart, Obama gets my vote easily but, in the words of Mr Spock (I saw STII: Wrath of Kahn last night, sorry.. haha), that is not logical. In any event, I'm happy you take this process seriously and with some diligence.
I guess I just always thought you would vote McCain cause as you said, you didn't seem all too thrilled or inspired by Obama and hated his choice of VP. I will say though that as a former Republican, even if Obama didn't inspire me like he does I don't think I ever could vote Republican again after how much Bush let me down. The GOP party (like you've said) have lost their way and they need a complete rebirth and transformation for me to ever cast a vote for them again.
Are Joe and I the only two Californians that are old enough to vote? I am curious as to what people are voting on Prop 8. For personal reasons, I am voting no on it. I think its nothing more then hate wrapped up in a convenient little package.
I know I seemed that way but I never seriously considered voting for McCain. I think Palin was cool but I'm not that nutty of a right winger. In fact, as I've learned over these past 6-7 months I am quite Libertarian. I agree with that last part big time. I cannot believe this is the same party as Reagan. Its almost as if I'm watching an episode of SuperFriends and its taking place on Bizarro World. I'm proud Obama is going to be the first black President but he has a hugely tough task to tackle in his first 4 years. At the same time the Repubs had better reform themselves because waiting for the Democrats power to crumble isnt a good platform.
Yeah, people wondered why I was ever a Republican and it's because my views are semi-conservative and I connected better with the Republican party than I did the Democrats. My whole family did. Now we're all converted Democrats and likely never going to vote Republican again unless there's a drastic change or the Democratic candidate is just that bad.
As far as I know my parents were Republicans until the 2004 election as well. So you can tell things are swaying in the Democrats' favor lately.
