If I was voting in this election I'd vote for Obama. So I'm with you in spirit, haha.

If I was voting this election.

    Well.

I wouldn't pick either McCain or Obama, rather, just use the write in.

    Well, I would vote!

I wouldn't be giving my vote to the Major parties, rather, they'd be one less, and another party, one more vote.

Course, one less vote wouldn't matter to either Major parties, I guess.

I'll be the first person to tell you it's important to support your candidate, but people need to start learning it's going to be a long, long time, if ever, when the third-party candidates start to have a bigger presence in the United States government. Voting for a third-party candidate is practically a wasted vote.

I guess there are a couple of ways of looking at it. I mean, on the one hand you could call it a wasted vote but at the same time the longer people continue with that mentality the longer it'll be essentially a two party election. I know I've criticised certain aspects of voting for a third party but next time there's an election here I'm pretty sure I'll be voting one.

    Practically.

It is important to support the Candidate you pick, but Voting for a third-party Candidate isn't a wasted vote. It doesn't give the vote to the Major candidates that they need to win.

I didn't mean wasted in the sense that you'd be throwing your vote away. I meant wasted in the sense that it won't really help your candidate at all, considering the huge bias in this country and the fact that the Democrats and Republicans are going to be running the country for a long, long time.

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about.

When you've got a third-party candidate, a lot of times people will vote for him just because they don't like either of the two main candidates, instead of actually supporting that third-party candidate. It takes votes away from both main candidates, and you can end up with someone in office who shouldn't be there.

    Ooooh.

It won't help if it was one vote. Many votes for a third-party candidate would help, and it starts with one person, with one vote.

Yeah, the huge Bias on this country is how it's going to be. Considering alot, I'm almost sure Obama WILL win the election.

It's really depressing when they vote for someone else just because they don't like the other two.

Yeah. I'm not saying it's a waste in a literal sense, because you're still supporting your candidate, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not going to help at all, at least not for another four hundred years or so.

It's just that it's going to take so long for any other party to seize control in U.S. government that it's almost pointless to try at this point. Although I'm sure I'm only saying that because I want Obama to get all the votes he can get.

Well, it's up to the people! Plus, if the New's coverage is all over the major parties, no one's going to know too much on the minor parties! :p So that's why. And yes, I can tell .

The more people that know about the minor parties, the more votes they will get, which will give less power to the Republicans and democrats. It's not pointless. Almost? Perhaps, but it still up to the people.

I will just be glad when its all over, and Obama wins, so Sarah Palin can go crawling back into what ever hole she came from. I have never been so disappointed by another woman in my entire life. She seriously just sickens me.

To be fair, if no one votes for third parties now they'll never gain enough support to be a threat to the bigger ones, for better or for worse. I think if someone genuinely wants to vote for a third party candidate and isn't just caught up in the idea of breaking the monopoly they may as well.

Yeah. I know what you mean. That's all fine and well.

I guess my criticism was more rooted toward the people who vote for third-party candidates solely because they don't like the two main candidates, but they never actually supported the third-party candidate they voted for, if that makes any sense.

The third parties need to start from the bottom up, not the top down. They need to start locally, like city council and mayor, then work their way up to the house and senate, then president. You just can't start at the top and expect people who have never heard of you or your party to vote for you.
