"This is the anthem, get all your hands up." vs. "Give me something to break." I think I can relate to the second lyrical line. Fred, although wacky as he is, and a prime target for "poserism "(wtf?!), lots of us can relate to him.
I know what you're saying, but I'm talking about songs that you can actually relate to, such as "It'll Be OK" or "Re-Arranged." Limpbizkit only has around 10 lyrically impactful (and what I mean by that is LP-esque songs) from all three of their albums. The rest is the pump-you-up-so-you-can-go-out-and-kick-someone's-ass kind of music. Edit: Directed to Elie.
Fred's just really blunt about things...who cares if he curses in his lyrics, that's his style, geeze, take off your PG-13 earplugs (directed to no one in particular!).
But see, you've ventured miles out beyond the point of this thread, "Posers". I don't care if the song tells me to go jump off a bridge, atleast it has a meaning. But wtf are you telling me by saying "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous"? Consumers, 90% of the time, will never relate to that. I don't wish to venture out any farther, i'd rather get some sleep, then talk about how "poserific" GC is. If you want to continue believing that GC actually has a positive contribution to the music industry, than more power to you. But you're more likely to see me supporting the RIAA then you'll see me saying "GC" are not posers.
No, she isn't! I know this one girl at my elementary school, Korrina (Mel knows her too) and she used to be all preppy. She used to follow around the popular girl, and try to get popular herself. But then Sara had enough of her (Korrina was really bitchy) and stopped the "friendship" the had. So she changed to 'punk' and started wearing tomboy clothes. She said she loved Linkin Park before they were even famous, but when I asked her who Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda were, she went, "Who are you talking about?" It was so funny, you could totally tell she was a poser.
Oh, speaking of the devil. She tries to act to all tomboyish to be "unique" and get attention. Oh yeah, she is unique alright. The bitchiest girl in class. how can she not? She also tries to be Avril wearing ties(which she never bought o wore to school when she constantly tell us that she is gonna get them), she says she knows how to surf and tried to act all cool an popular, is she? No.

There are a lot of people who I know that are sick of all these celebrities claiming that their lives are terrible and stuff while they're riding in the back of a limousine. Meanwhile there are children starving in Uganda or whatever. I mean, sure they're being contradictory with that song by complaining themselves, but I don't see how that makes them posers.
Yeah, I'm sick of girls wearing ties; especially when they're longer than the girl's height...obviously a sign they're her dad's. Trendy kiddies, grow up.

Contradiction often times goes hand in hand with being a "poser".
lmao. I contradict myself a lot. Does that make me a poser?
Contradiction often times goes hand in hand with being a "poser".
Ohk Will, you can be a 'poser' while I sleep. Good night.
There wouldn't be starving children if the parents wouldn't stop making kids. They know they're poor as hell, starving, etc., why bring a kid into your life to make them suffer? It's like "Hi sweety, I brought you into my wretched world where you have no chance of survival. Well, I have to die now, see ya! P.S., bring another kid into the world to suffer with you! Keep the chain strong, sister!" I'm being harsh, you say? Not at all. I feel bad for the kids, but I look down upon their parents.
Something tells me Elie quoted himself instead of me. All good though. I guess I'm a poser now. w00t.
Ok, seriously though, everyone is a poser depending on what your definition of "poser". If you are saying a poser as in trying to be someone they are not, then I agree with what I just stated. Everybody has tried to be a poser at least once in their lives. Everyone tries to fit in to this "world" full of different types of people. People are always trying to fit in to he "cool" people, the "nerds", the "normals", the "ghettos", etc. There is no such thing as "cool" people or "normal" people. Human beings are so stupid sometimes, not realizing that they can't pose. You are what you are and you can't change it. I think I am done.
Agreed. Especially now, as teenagers (I think most of us here are) a lot of us experiment with style, try being "this" and "that" to figure what fits...Natural part of growing I guess. On the subject of GC...I do not think they're posers. Granted, their lyrics aren't the best, but I don't think they're as bad as say, New Found Glory's. As for the whole "punk" debate, well that's just stupid because punk means different things to different people. Yeah, their music is a little poppy, but it's still rock. And as for the whole "my dad left me thing," hell, a lot of bands older then them are still talking about their crappy parents, as Will mentioned above. OKay....that was fun Err, sort of.
I don't see what's wrong with NFG's lyrics. Infact that sort of confused me because they are singing and writing about 'love' or whatever but so do Linkin Park (E.G. With You) And they don't classify as 'Posers' either.
