Upon listening (finally) I have to say...it's okay. The only song that really stuck with me was "She Had the World" and that was for the lyrics. Which is one complaint I had...the lyrics seem to have gone from witty story-telling lyrics in Fever...to almost nonsense in a lot of the songs here. That and the songs lost their poppy hooks in favour of, in my opinion, way too many instruments. IDK, if I wanted the Beatles I would have listened to them...I wanted P!@tD though (yes, with the !) and am a bit disappointed. Bands have to learn that "evolving as a band" doesn't mean "rip off something from the 70s".

I mean maybe it will still grow on me, but on the first listen I am not too enthralled.

I must be the only one who thinks this album is awesome and a really cool departure from the old Panic. I like the retro sound they went for, and I think they pulled it off very well.

Who cares if they stole from The Beatles. They've done it the best that I've seen any band attempt to do so in recent memory.

I agree with that actually. This album is catchy as hell and it's really grown on me.

Nah, you're not the only one.

It IS catchy as hell. and I love the folkish tracks like I Have Friends In Holy Spaces and Folkin Around. There just so fun.

I like it quite a bit. It grows on me with each listen, there's only a couple songs I don't care for that much.

I've listened to Pretty. Odd. several more times and I can't find anything wrong with it. I'm not going to say it's a perfect album, because it's got its flaws. But I think those flaws are what makes the songs what they are. They're all well-crafted. And the album itself sounds like it could be the soundtrack to a really messed up musical.

I'm not going to compare this album to The Beatles because I hate The Beatles. I've never enjoyed them and I can't find one song by them that I can enjoy listening to thoroughly. Panic at the Disco was influenced by them, yes, but they were also influenced heavily by The Beach Boys and other artists from the era, yet no one's mentioning them at all. It's sort of disconcerting, but that's just me.

Overall, though, I'll refuse to compare this to The Beatles or The Beach Boys or any of those older artists, because I feel as though Panic's sound is unique to them, for as much as they borrowed elements from those artists, they made the sound all their own.

I've only listened to a few song but I like what I heard it had a kind of classic feeling to it.
The lyrics just are nonsense though.

Also, it does seem to me like they're actually trying to be the bands that have influenced the album, instead of just taking cues from them. Sometimes I just feel like... why listen to it when I could just listen to The Beatles or whoever? It's a good album, don't get me wrong.

I actually like this album, and this is coming from someone who completely loathed their earlier material. Granted, the Beatles similarities are undeniable, but at least they took influence from a good band.
