You spelled Tupac wrong the first time. Not to mention that when people are referring to the biggest rapper, they're probably thinking of ones that are known to be alive and still in the business. Sure, Tupac was most likely a bigger rapper than Jay-Z, but that was in his time.
"B.I.G., P-O, P-P-A. No info, for the, DEA. Federal agents mad cause I'm flagrant. Tap my cell, and the phone in the basement. My team supreme, stay clean. Triple beam lyrical dream, I be that cat you see at all events bent. Gats in holsters girls on shoulders. Playboy, I told ya, bein mice to me. Bruise too much, I lose, too much. Step on stage the girls boo too much. I guess it's cause you run with lame dudes too much. Me lose my touch, never that. If I did, ain't no problem to get the gat. Where the true players at? Throw your Rollies in the sky. Wave em side to side and keep your hands high while I give your girl the eye, player please. Lyrically, n****z see, B.I.G. be flossin jig on the cover of Fortune five double oh, here's my phone number. Your man ain't got to know, I got to go. Got the flow down pizat, platinum plus like thizat, dangerous on trizack, leave your ass blizzack..." I'm just sayin...
I didn't think people would be dense enough to not get it when I bolded TWO PACKS. Thought it was fairly obvious. Considering Tupac's still 'releasing' albums to this day, I'd say he's pretty big. By your logic, when people start discussing the biggest rock bands, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are off the list. Jay-Z is big, sure. But Biggie and Tupac are by far bigger than he is, dead or not. The status of living or dead doesn't release them from the list. And for the sake of the 'only living people' argument, Eminem is bigger than Jay-Z.
I would watch it, if I were you. Right or wrong, you have no place making any sort of implication that someone who didn't get your little joke is dense. It's a warning this time, but next time it will be an infraction, and the last time I checked, you've got two already. Regardless of the argument being made here, I advise that you be careful with how you make your arguments. And to get back on topic, when people refer to The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, they might be referred to as the biggest rock bands "ever," but not the biggest rock bands right now. Sure, Tupac is still releasing albums but he by no means is one of the biggest rappers right now. Ever? Certainly, but there has to be that clarification there. Yes, it's arguable that Eminem is bigger than Jay-Z, but I'm pretty sure the point I was trying to make is that Jay-Z is one of the biggest, as was the person who first introduced him as one of the biggest. Unless that person clarified Jay-Z as the biggest, I don't see anything wrong with his / her assertion.
He never said 'biggest rapper alive' nor did he say 'biggest rapper ever' or 'biggest rapper right now'. Just sayin'.
Woah guys arms down! I meant biggest rapper at the time obviously, otherwise you would have to argue about LP, cuz I said they were one of the biggest rock bands. I can guarantee you Hov is the most respected rapper in the game, maybe not the best, Diddy or 50 might make more money sometimes, but Jay somehow knows how to stay 'big' aka relevant, and respected. And everything I just said could be debated all day, but from what I know, this is the general consensus of the hip-hop public and artists themselves. The whole point of the post was that this unity, commercial or not, took a big part of what each act was, and replaced it with the others respective parts, and that was just really cool.
I'm pretty sure at least 50% of the hip-hop public would argue that as they're Nas or Eminem fans, but I digress. In terms of a pure mash-up, it's a great album and I enjoy it. As a musician however, I was expecting them to, as they say in I N C E P T I O N, go deeper.
I can't say I'm really in touch with rap music, but I do remember Jay Z being monster back when Collision Course came out and for a long time afterwards. I can't really see what's being argued.
It was ok. I don't like Jay-Z but Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You and Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer were good.
