I have friends who don’t like “rock” music and are hip hop/rap music fans but they all like Numb/Encore. For some of them it’s probably the only LP song that they have heard. I do think the collaboration worked out well as it introduced Jay-Z fans to LP and vice versa. The only tracks from Collision Course I would actually listen to now are Jigga What/Faint, Numb/Encore and Points of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer. I actually prefer these over the original songs. I don’t like the other three tracks at all. Album rating: 6/10.
Collision Course actually got me into LP sooo yahh, I really like it. It was a lot bigger of a deal back then, the biggest rapper gettin with one of the biggest 'rock' bands. It made me one happy 8th grader, and I still like it to this day. Brad's guitar solo on LAMK is rad.
I like Jay-Z over Linkin Park. Mike/Chester over Jay-Z is kind of weird and doesn't always work. Please don't turn the above sentence into some gross innuendo.
Haha. Hahaha. Hahahaha. HAHAHAHAHA. But I digress. Collision Course was pimp. And in other news, LAMK? Does not compute.
Don't confuse the word "biggest" with "best." There was definitely a time when Jay-Z was the biggest (as in most popular) rapper out there. I liked Collision Course, as I'm a fan of both genres. I thought it worked well for what it was: a professionally-done short mash-up EP.
Who's been bigger than Jay? I guess Nelly was bigger around that time. But he fell off quick. Jay just kinda covers all areas of the game at a big level, I don't think he's particularly the best at any one thing.
