Oh, okay. I'm about to listen to "Echoplex" ... EDIT: Not bad ... I think I like "Discipline" better ... I'll see things more clearly after a few more listens. Like "Discipline", this song has a sound reminiscent of "With Teeth". Sounds like Trent's making more guitar-driven stuff that's, like, I guess, fun ... and danceable. Whatever. It beats "Ghosts". This song's gonna be fun to remix, I imagine.
Okay, it's official. Trent is on overdrive. Seriously, is this the same guy who left six years between "The Fragile" and "With Teeth"?
He's only left us multitracks ... we'd wind up with a variety of mixes of those songs. I guess he might release his own mix soon. May 5?
I just got back from a ______ (can't think of the right word at the moment... the doldrums come to mind) day and now Echoplex is definitely making me 20 sorts of hippity hoppity.
multitracks for garageband usually line up in the manner they were made. you can move it up, but its usually set up in the manner it would be normally played. at least the year zero ones did.
Oh ... um, on "Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D", are the multitracks on that data DVD all WAV files that can be read properly on XP? I'm considering buying it just for that 'cause the files on remix.nin.com are frigging AIFF's and I can't manhandle them the way I'd like to ...
Wikipedia: "The bonus DVD-ROM included with the CD release contains multi-track files from the entire Year Zero album in GarageBand and Ableton Live formats, as well as a demo version of the Ableton Live software, and 44100 Hz WAV-format files of the album's individual track portions, for use in any non-linear music editing software such as Pro Tools or Digital Performer." WAV's can be read on both Apples and PC's, I think. But does "individual track portions" mean multitracks? Oh, and, in "Echoplex", at 2:09 -- is that a sample from "Wish"? It sounds really similar ...
multitracks mean all at once. individual track portions "for use in any non-linear music editing software". so its sort of the same concept, just not all at once. different pieces of stuff.
no it would be just VOCALS. and a seperate one for GUITAR 1. and another for BASS etc etc. in garageband, its all of those tracks lined up in order. so one line is vocals, with the guitar overlapping at a certain part etc etc. get it?
So ... one track for all vox? And, so on? Like, I just grabbed the "Me, I'm Not" WAV files and all the vox is in one track, all the guitar is in another, etc. Or is it just like Apple's multitracks, only without the markers?
Well. You can manipulate just the guitar by itself with the WAV files. WIth garageband, you manipulate the guitar in the context of the other materials. So like, you have the space of the song and you work within it, looping it as such. With ProTools, you wank around with it to your hearts content without touching the other stuff. Like think of it this way GARAGEBAND [vocals] [vocals] [guitar] [bass] PROTOOLS [vocals] thats it lol. you pick each specific one to work on, not all at once.
That's cool, then. I'll make a point - grab the remix album ... Now ... n00b moment 2: what the hell is Meathead?
Sometimes I just want to see a picture of Meathead. Or a live video feed. Because sometimes, honestly, I think it's Trent making fun of himself. I really could be wrong, but I want physical evidence that Meathead is some random schmuck. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Trent or Rob or something, since they have fucked up humor as well.Maybe Meathead is his alter ego I can see some split-personality going on lol. Considering I still don't know what song(s) Meathead morphed to make "I Like Dudes"
FUCK ONE MORE HOUR. I HAVE A FINAL AT 8 IN THE FUCKING MORNING TRENT. guess i'm investing in energy drinks at 7:30 today.
