With Teeth had more emotional lyrics, Year Zero was more detached and story telling. I liked the former a lot more.
PHM is obviously dated, but every album does after almost 20 years. Doesn't really lower the quality of the album IMO.
I can respect that. I consider WT the bane of NIN as it's all ridiculously average rock to me. But I can see that difference. Maybe it's just me, but Jimi Hendrix never seems to feel dated. It has that timeless quality to it. *shrugs* I guess in my opinion it hasn't aged as well as it could have.
Each to their own really, I honestly can't listen to Hendrix... But then, some people can't listen to Iron Maiden, cos apparently they sound old, but I love them. So go figure.
Pretty Hate Machine is pure 80's. I Love it. Catchy and emotive. The songs translate well live too.
You act like I haven't seen them live. I know the songs translate into the live setting very well, that's why I want Trent to say, update the studio versions.
He didn't act like you haven't seen them live, he just stated that they work well live... Lighten up guys, I know its NIN, but we don't have to be as agro as Trent
See, I only like a few songs off of PHM. "Sin", "Terrible Lie", "Head Like A Hole", and "That's What I Get". "Something I Can Never Have" makes me want to punch infants.
Ringfinger, Down in It, Kinda I Want To, Sanctified. Mmmmm. Listing the tracks makes me realise how much I like it. Yea, 2000 I think it was. There are some great videos of their set on YouTube. I was too young then unfortunately, but I saw them twice last year at Luna Park and Hordern and on the With Teeth tour. Can't wait to see them again. I really wish Trent would break out some rarely played older songs though. Wouldn't mind hearing Ringfinger or The Becoming in place of the better known tracks.
"I beat my machine" Lolololol. Although we've all seen it (And if you haven't, leave this thread please), it seems timely to break out this little gem.
The performance from the Still sessions is fucking fantastic. And surely you like the Still-version of SICNH!
Still-version anything is amazing. Hell, if Trent decided he wanted to do a Still version of Starfuckers, I'm sure it'd be gold.
It won't give up, it wants me dead, and God damn this noise inside my head... That line is so fucking relevant to me..
