I just started listening to the album. Sounds interesting, and I'm really looking forward to the u2 cover.
Maybe it's just not my style of music, but I've been listening to this and haven't being going "OMFG" over it. I find Year Zero and The Downward Spiral better than this stuff.
Well considering this is Saul William's album and not Trent's, that's understandable... It took a few listens to really start to like the album but it's really growing on me. At first I thought that the way Saul flowed versus Reznor's production was too chaotic. I wasn't used to it, but now I really dig it. Saul's got a great singing voice too. NiggyTardust's chorus had me cracking up the first time I heard it. "NOTHING!... Shut up."
Thank god someone else did I'm not going to lie, there are a few songs that are weaker than others, but all in all I enjoy the music because it reminds me of what I want to do as a producer, so...yeah. I adore and highly endorse this album Doubleposting for the lulz. As seen in Random Thoughts... Teitan's Thoughts:
Oh man. Getting insulted by Trent Reznor when you're a member on ETS That's gotta suck. I actually like this more than Year Zero. I'm not sure why but Year Zero definitely lost that charm it had when I first heard it and now I barely listen to any of it.
Supposedly Teitan is a god that opposed all of the Olympian gods, but it could also be a play on Titan. Either way, it's Trent's username on Echoing The Sound. Another doublepost for the lulz.
I saw this on ETS, but you can listen to 30 second clips of each song off of Y43RZ3R0R3M1X3D here on Amazon.
I haven't listened to it in full yet, but my first impression was that it's not going to live up to the self-titled album. It probably won't, but anything Saul touches is gold. I mean, fuck, he made a movie about slam poetry interesting and provocative. The man is a genius, and probably the "bizarro" version of Trent Reznor.
The Self-Titled? Eh, I could see it being maybe around that level, but it won't be any Amethyst Rock Star.
Wow, after listening to these 30 seconds snippets, I'm very surprised at the potential for all of these songs. Some of them sound like they could be improvements on the originals!
I'm not too excited about Year Zero Remixed although I'll get the more remixed tracks. By that i mean ones that aren't like the originals at all.
Well, sort of. It just shows info about the remix album and has a link to both the Nine Inch Nails and Year Zero websites.
People seem to be discussing the new Saul Williams album here, so... it disappointed me upon first listen. I've never been a big fan of him before but at least he's usually interesting if nothing else.
