So he's disbanding the touring line-up? I'm interested to see how he plans to accomplish this and still do live shows. I have faith, though. The whole Year Zero ARG and story shows that Trent knows how to think outside of the box when it comes to music. We'll see what happens.
He made the entire album off of a fucking laptop. I'm sure he'll be traveling around with the PowerBook. Watch the video of The Great Destroyer. There's guitar, and PowerBook. And that's it. And he's not disbanding the entire band. He just moves some members around, that's all. I think its Aaron that's leaving, and only Aaron. Anyways, for the sake of saving thread space, post this in the Official NIN thread on page 2. Mark even says IN THE THREAD that Official threads are un-necropostable. You won't get in trouble, I promise.
Happy now? I'm guessing he wants to go this route so he can pull off all of those electronic-heavy songs off of YZ.
Thank you dear <3 FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED OUT OF THIS THREAD. Trent's totally pwning the current incarnation of NIN, and might make it go kaboom. We're determining who is staying and who is going. But yeah, it's hard to do songs that are so electronic like Meet Your Master, The Warning, The Great Destroyer, and Vessel with just a plain ol' rock band. If Aaron goes, I'll miss his high-flying tricks, but I won't be too sad.
I hope this means they'll actually perform The Perfect Drug live, but I doubt it seeing as Trent isn't exactly fond of that song.
We hope so, but since Trent's being Captain Buttmunch, we doubt it as well. But if Cpt. Buttmunch can perform a horribly written song like "That's What I Get", I'm pretty sure he can suck it and play TPD...in Boston AND ONLY IN BOSTON AND ONLY IF I GET GOOD FUCKING SEATS. >( if he'll ever come back to mainland USA already. WTF.
The Perfect Drug can barely be played by the whole band, much less just Trent Reznor alone. There's way too much shit going on in that song to be played live. Not even God Josh Freese can get the drum tracks down right. It'd take a fucking machine. Literally.
I was at the Sydney show a couple of nights back when he said that. I was surprised because back in May when I saw NIN he hardly said a thing all night. Such is Trent Reznor i suppose. Edit: Found the video:
My god, he lets us steal and then performs "TDTWWA". <3 Ahaha, thanks to Josh Freese, we can see the drama backstage. It's around, oh...43 seconds left. I think? Freese is a scary man. o_o
