Anyone else believe Zero-Sum is Trents newest masterpiece? In the vein of Hurt, And All That Could Have Been, Something I Can Never Have etc. That song is beautiful, it just says so much in 6 minutes 14 seconds.
Yeah, it's my favourite track on the record at the moment. Although I don't think anything can top And All That Could Have Been.
I guess it might be weird that I'm pulling back the NIN thread after a few weeks of inactivity. But alas, I only do this when there's news. For anyone who hasn't seen it, in the TR section of the NIN site, Trent said a few words about the state of the music industry... and then hinted at something new. From the blog: "As the climate grows more and more desperate for record labels, their answer to their mostly self-inflicted wounds seems to be to screw the consumer over even more. A couple of examples that quickly come to mind: The ABSURD retail pricing of Year Zero in Australia. Shame on you, UMG. Year Zero is selling for $34.99 Australian dollars ($29.10 US). No wonder people steal music. Avril Lavigne's record in the same store was $21.99 ($18.21 US). By the way, when I asked a label rep about this his response was: "It's because we know you have a real core audience that will pay whatever it costs when you put something out - you know, true fans. It's the pop stuff we have to discount to get people to buy." So... I guess as a reward for being a "true fan" you get ripped off. The dreaded EURO Maxi-single. Nothing but a consumer rip-off that I've been talked into my whole career. No more. The point is, I am trying my best to make sure the music and items NIN puts in the marketplace have value, substance and are worth you considering purchasing. I am not allowing Capital G to be repackaged into several configurations that result in you getting ripped off. We are planning a full-length remix collection of substance that will be announced soon." ______________ AHEM, read that last line...
ooh I wonder if this will be remixes of just Year Zero, or other songs as well... this could be interesting, NIN are just one of those bands who's music asks to be remixed.
bloody hell, i was just gonna post that x_x imagine the great destroyer remix o_o meathead is love <3 ANOTHER EDIT: courtesy of some wonderful people on ETS, here is a .pdf file of part 1 of the year zero experience: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IFV2DHAZ i'm burning it to disc as we speak.
Finally got the album...honestly?...this album is way better than I expected...when I first heard survivalism...I was kinda...bummed. But now when I listen to it...it sounds better when listening to it with the other tracks... Trent Reznor = God The great destroyer and Meet your master...my favorite tracks so far
Trent is amazing. Hes never released a record that I can't just sit and listen to without getting bored. Even With Teeth, which people seemed to dislike, was a masterpiece in my opinion. And year Zero just doesn't get old either, I've listened to it so many times that its getting rediculous, but its still great.
i'm waiting very patiently for part two to start up, but goddamnit man, i'm getting a little on edge. i still want to hear a great destruction (version). that would be pretty nasty, not even gonna lie.
Yeah, so I'm going through a Year Zero ARG withdrawl. There hasn't been any new sites discovered in weeks. That makes me a sad panda.
Just a thought...but...I'm one of those, who haven't been following everything too well...why not open a thread and sum it up for everyone?...or would that spoil any of the fun?
YOU THOUGHT I MISNAMED IT?! ! FOR SHAME ON YOU MARK. working titles: great destruction (version) all a part of this great nation zeros and ones hyperpower (version) capital greed (or something to that extent, something with greed, cause thats the g) and im thinking the title is "revisionism" im a goober. orrrr.... they can just go to exhibit24.net which is part of the ARG and sums up the first half :] if anything, they can go to the ninwiki thats got EVERYTHING, and trust me, i was in the irc chats on ETS when they were making it, and oyyy. it was a mess
I have downloaded a PDF that's like 300 pages worth of stuff dealing with the Year Zero world. It even has a list of everyone on Echoing the Sound labeling them the Resistance. Meathead is labeled as executed. Priceless.
The PDF is courtesy of ETS, as I mentioned in one of my previous posts. Not to mention, that page wasn't created by ETS. http://www.exhibit24.net/net1.htm , an ACTUAL WEBSITE IN THE ARG, has the listing for all of the Spiral members as members of the resistance. http://www.exhibit24.net/net2.htm is the ETS one you speak of. It wasn't created as a joke, ETS is linked on the official NIN website, and meathead is executed and one of the admin/mods/whatevs on ETS, ItsJustDave, is also incarcerated I believe. Not to sound cycnical or holier-than-thou but... If you read earlier in this thread, maybe a page or two back from this one, you will see members on here mentioning the discovery of this website, and some of us even mentioning our numbers. Or, as previously mentioned, go to ninwiki.
not sure if it's been posted already, but man, looks like Trent is pissed at the record industry, woohoo! http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,21741980-5006024,00.html
Shi-it! Go Trent, let 'em have it man. I was one of the ones who payed $35 for that album, nice to see Trent knows what his fans have to deal with.
Did I mention I saw this band play a few weeks back at Luna Park? Fucking incredible performance, although Trent had a hissy fit over his lighting guys going into La mer and before Hurt.
