Picked this up today, and loved every second of it. Trent is a god. 1. The Fragile 2. Pretty Hate Machine 3. year Zero 4. The Downward Spiral 5. With Teeth But my opinion may change still...
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/articl...t_id=1003576072 Reports we're true...album debuted at #2 with 187,000 copies sold. Fucking Avril. Oh well, when the end of the year arrives, we'll see who's on the top of more "year end" top ten lists.
I'm starting to wish that I was more interested in NiN before this album came out so I could have been following this. In my opinion, the promotion idea for it was absolutely incredible.
G doesn't stand for George Bush, it stands for "Greed", according to Trent. Although he did note he understood why some people would take it that way. Why would he be talking about Bush in 2022?
Cause Mr. Bush wanted to pass a bill to become president for more than 2 terms. Thank god it was denied.
Just to back that up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_G_(song) "Trent Reznor said that the "G" stands for "Greed,"[4] though there are numerous reviews assuming it is about George W. Bush." On another point, the Opalheartclinic Niggy Tardust (Escaped..) remix of Survivalism is sweet!
On the subject of capital G, im sure trent must'v written it with Bush in mind. You can hardly 'push a button' and 'elect greed to office.' And the line about dropping bombs, also bush. Why would greed need a capital G anyway?
It's metaphorical. Greed is the new God for these politicians. They worship it. Are you questioning the guy who wrote the song?
Happens all the time. Artist comes out and says a song is about one thing, the fans come back and say "NO ITS NOT DUMBASS."
To emphasize it's importance to modern day society. Sorry to double post, but GarageBand files have been released for Capital G, Me I'm Not and My Violent Heart. Spectograph images of two files from the Capital G garageband files reveals the avatars of a few members from ETS. One is a member that's been posting at ETS for October 2006, and so on. Plants? That's what some think. Others think it's just Reznor giving a subtle shoutout to ETS. That's cool.
Resistance Members listed on Exhibit24.net Exhibit24.net is a site revealed form the Garageband files from Capital G. The site in general is a listing of all the 'items' being used as evidence in a case against an inmate, and includes all the sites, clues, etc. The page I listed is interesting though. This specific list is basically members of Echoingthesound. I should know since I'm listed as a resistance member. 24.24.2.33, _Minus. I'm not dead... yippee...?
I think that if you even remotely like this album and are intrigued by the whole ARG aspect of the album's experience, you need to support Trent's effort, creativity, and art in general and pick up this album. It's only $9.99! Somebody over at ETS said it best: Regarding low sales and Trent mentioning people "stealing" the album on NIN.com; He put alot of effort into creating this entire experience for his fans, and I believe that if you are one of those fans who enjoyed the experience, give up the $10 and support the artist. Who knows if he'll do it all over again with the second album if he doesn't get any reciprocation from his fans.
I'm on each list, and I'm loving that I'm still alive. And its so amusing that meathead got executed.
