I can't get the peices to match up but when I got the username peice close to the submit button it flashed the password. edit - GOT IT There's a chatroom holy crap this is amazing http://www.solutionsbackwardsinitiative.net/pilgrims/
Don't know about anyone else, but I've already set aside time this weekend to go about my town posting some Art Is Resistance flyers found on Echoing The Sound, and spray paint the flag logo some places as well.
Yeah, I connected the two, too. It was weird that Carolina was saying that because she wasn't online in the chat room. Crazy glitches.
If you look at the top right corner (as well as the login puzzle on the other site) you'll notice that "you" are actually logged in as Carolina. It's just like IRC, it doesn't show your screename in the user list, just everyone else (I think...I haven't used IRC in ages).
I bought 'Beside You In Time' tonight and I must say it's a great live DVD. One qualm I had with it was that there were so many 'With Teeth' songs. I think Trent played everything except "All The Love In The World", "Every Day Is Exactly The Same", "Sunspots", "The Collector", and "Getting Smaller". I mean, for christ's sake, he played "With Teeth", which is by far the worst live NIN song I've heard. It had no energy. "Right Where It Belongs", "You Know What You Are", and "Beside You In Time" were the highlight live songs from WT. "Terrible Lie" still proves to be my favorite live NIN song, the breakdown at the end was just incredible. "Something I Can Never Have" and "Hurt" were also very special, and "Eraser" was fucking cool as hell. "Burn" and "Gave Up" were nice surprises, as was "The Big Come Down". "March of the Pigs", "Head Like A Hole", and "Wish" were very effective energetic songs. The live rehearsal videos were great, too. Fuck, I want to watch it again. Hah. I'd definitely recommend people check it out.
I keep hearing the AFI comparison a lot but I don't remember the AFI marketing scheme at all...so it couldn't have been as big as this.
AFI's mystery wasn't for a CD, but lead to some fans getting free tickets to secret concerts. Due to the nature of things it couldn't be so large (more people can get CDs then go to the concerts, and the secret shows would lose their point if they were too big). If you want some info on it it is here: http://panasonicyouth.buzznet.com/user/journal/19310/ AFIs mystery, while maybe less effective or useful (I don't think any songs were leaked due to it, for instance), it was probably more complex. And it went on for a longer time (apparently right now it isn't over, just resting). Oh and AFI's guitarist Jade also made this connection on his blog, http://shyboyswin.blogspot.com/
Woah, I never said they had a market on it. I had just never seen it done before them, so when I saw NIN do it I made the connection. For instance if someone else did a marketing scheme like this now, I would be shocked if you never even thought of Nine Inch Nails and Year Zero. On a side note today is ironically 337 day (03/03/2007), a reoccurring number in AFI's mystery lol.
didn't the ILoveBees ARG come before the AFI ARG? EDIT: Oh yeah, The Beginning Of The End leaked. And it wasn't by Trent this time either.
Not sure. It was for Halo 2's release right, around 2004? AFI's mystery was stated by Jade to have official stated with The Art of Drowning (released in 2000), but it wasn't until just before Sing the Sorrow (released 2003) era it really took off. I would say the official starting point was in late 2002. So it likely predates Halo's similar ploy. But since AFI's mystery wasn't just a marketing campaign for a single product, it lasted far longer then any of the others. As I said, it isn't even over now, just...sleeping.
After hearing The Beginning of The End: In This Twilight > Me, I'm Not > My Violent Heart > Survivalism > The Beginning of The End
