Registered. Wtf. Yay for getting in on this one almost from the start, unlike the year zero one which I missed til almost the end lol
If anyone wants to keep track, the MuseWiki is doing a fantastic job of summarizing things as they happen: http://www.musewiki.org/Ununited_States_of_Eurasia The first clip of the song was unlocked! Sounds beautiful. A second key is up for grabs today in Berlin. Should be retrieved in close to an hour/90 minutes, might have a second clip tonight!
Yeah, I was about to update. Someone found the Berlin key, but hasn't uploaded the code to the site yet. And yeah, the clip meets expectations.
Berlin is unlocked. First two segments of USoE are out. Can't wait to hear that chorus! Looking forward to the next city!
Two new cities have become locked, at least one should be primed by tonight, then we'll have the next piece of USoE. I like the track right now, though does anyone find it a little too Butterflies & Hurricanes-esque?
Clip 3 has been released and we're currently waiting for the fourth audio clip to surface since Phase 4 is finished as well.
http://ununitedeurasia.muse.mu/music/ Full song is up. Well, lacking "+ Collateral Damage", that is. The song is by FAR the most over-the-top thing Muse has done. Hahahaha. It's weird hearing it solitary like this. I'm interested to see how it fits with the flow of the album. Just listening to the piano beginning and juxtaposing it to the finish, I never would have guessed the song would end that way.
I love the intro and Collateral Damage is some of Matt's best work on the piano. It's just the Queeny chorus of the song I can't get used to. It's still a good song though, and I'm sure it'll sound better within the context of the album.
Matt said in an interview himself with NME that he cracks up at the Queen-ish part in USoE and called the song "over-the-top". Hahaha.
Yeah, the intro is awesome but when it busts into full on wank, I can't get into it. And the lyrics... holy shit. It's like they're trying too hard, but at the same time... not at all. I just wanna dance, man. Where is the groovy Muse that released "Time Is Running Out"?
I have to admit that I still can't decide, after 30+ listens, if I like the song. I don't dislike it, but still. It's beyond anything I can comprehend. It's Muse...but it's Queen. *head hurts*
I just hope Muse isn't becoming a Queen ripoff band. They are better when they sound like themselves instead of another group.
Well, it's interesting because when they released Showbiz everyone took them to be a Radiohead rip-off but they ended up developing a very unique sound during the course of their next three albums. But I really hope that this album isn't that way with Queen. I hope that this is the only song of it's kind. I suppose we'll see when they release the first official single in September.
