New music from Matt. Not Muse, just Matt. He's composed (or at least co-composed) the ending credits for the movie The International. Here it is: http://www.muselive.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=36882 Not mind-blowing or anything, but it's just backing music to be played over the end credits, so it's pretty good. I like the strings, very Musey. Wouldn't mind if they reused that melody on the new album.
A forum member on Muselive recently attended the NME awards and had the chance to talk to Dom about the new album. This is what they found out: a) album is 50% done b) it includes the heaviest and the softest stuff they've written c) recording reminds them of the OOS recording, with the different instruments they're experimenting with d) in talks with the people in charge of the Readling/Leeds festival for next year (2010) e) possible song name is the atrocity vector f) tour in early october Also, in a Radio 1 interview Matt said that the new album is "fucking genius!" and that he has a "good feeling about this one, and that doesn't usually happen". Sounds good!
Me too. Muse are easily one of the most musically proficient and talented bands of this decade/era. Big inspiration to me and my dreams of a music career.
I completely agree. If they were a little more popular, I think that Muse would be the Beatles/U2/Led Zeppelin of this decade. Also, this really seems like it may be Muse's "classic" album. Like, their "OK Computer", or "Joshua Tree". The one that breaks them out and that everyone compares them to and associates them with. The recording seems to be going well.
New interview with BBC, that talks about the new album's sound: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7918410.stm Awesome. Also, new video of the band recording a snap track in the bathroom, for some reason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98EdltpI25o
No one excited about classical-ness? CLASSICAL MUSE IS AWESOME! Anyway, new MySpace blog post from Dom: For those who are confused by the "llama toenails" thing, it's a reference to Screenager, which used llama toenails as a percussion instrument. Anyway, album could be out as early as June, then, if things are going quickly here. BE EXCITED PEOPLE!
I cannot wait. Everything about it sounds great, the direction they're taking really sounds distant from Origin, but it still sounds extremely promising.
To me, this is sounding like a weird mix of Origin's experimentalism and eccentricity, and Absolution orchestral, symphonic sound. So, pretty friggin awesome .
Glorious is better than some tracks off Black Holes, it should totally be on there. On another note, anyone here heard of Audrye Sessions? Their music constantly reminds me of Muse.
Haven't heard of them, i'll have to check them out. Also, yeah, Glorious is amazing. Should've closed Black Holes, in my opinion. Actually, just swap that in for Exo Politics and maybe get rid of Soldiers Poem and the album would be 100x better.
MORE RECORDING PICTURES~ Matt recording piano/vocals: http://twitpic.com/206pd "Silence being discussed" is the title, I don't actually know what this is: http://twitpic.com/1ynob Note that in the Matt recording piano/vocals pic, it says "matt recording part 2", which COULD reference part two of the symphonic monster. Also, someone noticed that in one of the pictures, the files is named "mattarchetype of ethereal phil". Archetype of Ethereal is apparently a reference to a ring system in Saturn, which is in three parts, which could mean that the three part symphonic monster is entitled Archetype of Ethereal. It's random, yes, but Muse is strange so I could imagine them doing this.
Yeah, it should be great. This just posted on the official muse website: YESSSSSSSS!!!!! First off, new tour, and since Muse is known for live shows, this is great news! Secondly, this probably means that the album will come out soon. So, WOOT! EDIT: Okay, theres a lot of speculation going on that the NA tour is just opening dates for U2. So, if you're in NA don't get your hopes up to high. This sucks, because I want to see Muse but i'm not willing to pay whatever insane prices U2 will be charging to see them open with a short set. Hopefully they'll do a real NA tour in 2010.
I'd gladly fly to Toronto/Montreal and pay the astronomical prices for a U2 concert if I get to see Muse.
Well, there's more dates to be announced, but they've confirmed one in Vancouver, so I may go to that. I don't know though. I think I would feel out of place with the U2 crowd.
Okay, so we've gotten some news/rumors coming out now and it's getting strange. First off, someone has apparently leaked some clips of songs from the album editing process, which could or could not be real. Here's the first one: http://www.ollygibbs.com/Music/Possibly%20new%20track.mp3 Sorry about the random link, it was taken down from YouTube. Second one is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVKPd_0LKXQ So, they both actually sound pretty good, and kinda Muse-y. It will be interesting to see if these are fake leaks or not. Also, NA tour is confirmed as this: East Rutherford, NJ - 9/25/2009 Hyattsville, MD - 9/29/2009 Charlottesville, VA - 10/1/2009 Atlanta, GA - 10/6/2009 Tampa, FL - 10/9/2009 All are supporting U2. EDIT: I forgot, new video of Muse in the studio recording drums/keyboard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSVKlw2zjWo
