Chester has never been great at articulating his feelings in a "mature"/complex (whatever that means) manner. He certainly manage to do so once in a while, but these lyrics feel much more natural based on how he speaks normally. I honestly feel this song is very personal - to him at least - and, thus, feels very much like him just having a casual conversation about his depressed state in 2015/2016. Some of you assume these lyrics are just pandering to a certain demographic but based on the aforementioned I feel like there is more to it than that. I feel like Chester is singing from a very real place. Whether or not that is cringy/angsty to you is your provocative.
Not getting involved in whether the lyrics are good or bad or whatever, but this is possibly the worst strawman I've ever seen.
I swear to god Heavy's melody has been stuck in my head for days. Often find myself singing what we know of the chorus from time to time. xD
Way to criticize how I look. I might have a problem with applying moisturizer to my skin, but it's kinda offensive to call me a straw man for being on the drier side.
All I have to say is I can relate to those lyrics personally. As a matter of fact I believe everyone can now or later on in their lives at some point. The melody is catchy and personally I'm all for this new direction or what I've heard from it so far. Everyone wants a Shakespeare record from LP and though I believe if they really tried they could pull it off, but this song is going to be a damn good song because it gets straight to the point and sticks with you. P.S You make your reality of Linkin Parks music. If you "cringe" at these lyrics then the track is not meant for your listening pleasure. They were written from a personal perspective and only YOU can allow that perspective in. Bring it on LP7.
Well now that Linkin Park have established their premium condom range, they might be moving into the skin care industry any time now.
Eh I'm gonna pass on reading these lyrics early. Would prefer to just experience them as I listen to the song for the first time. Plus, don't care if they aren't spectacular lyrics, its just the lead single
I'm sorry but these are some cheesy 5th grade level lyrics. Hard to believe grown men sat down to write this. "Stacking up problems that are so unnecessary" "To let my mind stay so fucking messy" YIKES
It makes perfect sense to me too but its just extremely poorly written. No excuse for that. I kinda agree but what surprises me is seeing them regress. MTM and ATS had some genuinely good lyrics imo and one would expect them to get better with time/age. You grow older, gain perspective, write more nuanced/interesting stuff. But not in LP's case. This reads like 5th grader's idea of 'deep lyrics'.
I'm sorry but these are still leagues better than SIB's "I wanna heal, I wanna feel, banana peel, glockenspiel...."
I've always seen lyrics as something subjective. Who holds the absolute truth when it comes to express what you feel? What are the rules that determine that some words are "good" or "bad"?
HT, M, and M2m all had personal and relatable lyrics. People act like LP has never made songs that arent personal and relatable. I'm old and i can still relate to hybrid theory and meteora just as much as i did back when i was a young teenager.
