True that. He said he was sorry. Don't say "he'd better be", because he is. He's an administrator, and he has the right to be picky on those things. He may have come off as harsh, but in other situations, the administrators have the right to pick you off and such if your typing is so bad. Yours wasn't, but it wasn't as good as maybe he would have liked it to be. That's all. Like Paul said, don't push it further. Let's just leave it behind us and get back on topic.

EDIT: And by the way, typing is not silly. It's one of things that gets you respect on these boards. Typing without any sense of grammar or punctuation makes people think you're not as, for lack of a better word, intelligent as you'd like to come off as. Plus, it helps us understand what the hell you're saying.

Okay, okay. End of discussion. *shuts up*

I actually have a right to be strict if I want to be. Especially since my money goes into this website.

But I've already said I was wrong in this instance, so I expect you to take the apology and run with it.

A lot of you people have been mislead as to what nu-metal is. Nu-metal was a corporate response to what Korn were doing. Manufactured metal bands like Sevendust and Drowning Pool. Linkin Park was to that genre what Pearl Jam was to grunge. Linkin Park was a mix of genres put together and the end result was what was currently defined as nu-metal. Linkin Park's record company had marketed the band without them realising they were being pushed into that bandwagon, and now that they're aware it makes sense that they're going to steer away from it.

Nu-metal originally meant neutered metal, which is something that Linkin Park is not. Linkin Park is a modern rock band and they never claimed otherwise. On their MySpace profile they labelled themselves as Rock/Alternative. Now that you know the facts, it's a big relief that they are steering away from that genre. Compare Pearl Jam's third album to the stuff before it and you'll have an idea of what to expect.

I believe the modfather is right in all cases and any rebuttals should mean immediate trips to the bottom of the ocean with concrete shoes.

    That is all.

My family would probably not read anything into it and believe it was a free meal.

    Mmm... fish.

Maybe you could send them a finger, so they get a better idea of what happened?

I don't want my family to get a free meal because of my demise, you know. I'm expecting waterworks here.

If they do a punk rock influenced record in the sense of those lame bands that came out in the 70's like the Ramones and The Sex Pistols, I'll be dissappointed.

But if they make a punk rock influenced record in the vain of Gang of Four, The Fall or even At The Drive-In, I'll be pleased.

That actually sounds interesting, like At The Drive-In meets Jurassic 5 or Aesop Rock.

I'll prob be shot for saying this: I don't have any issues with the categorization of what is and what is not "nu-metal". If it's good music, I'll love it to death.

I adore what Korn and LP are producing, nu-metal or not.

I may be wrong but based on their tastes I'm going to guess:

    Wu-Tang Clan/ RZA
    Depeche Mode
    Public Enemy
    N.W.A.
    Jay-Z
Timbaland (Not too sure on this one though)
    U2
    The Police
    Boogie Down Productions/ KRS-One
    Aphex Twin
    Squarepusher

By the way, I didn't base these only on the three said genres. I tried to include influences for everyone in the band.

I am very happy with what Chester says about the new album actually. I think its good that they're trying new things, it seems this album is going to have an exellent mix on it, and thats good. This album will be like LP breaking a barrier because, as good as meteora was, it was basically the same as HT.
What they're doing is a good thing.

I am looking forward to the next album. They say they have punk influences, they didn't say they are punk. And as for the poppy, melodic sound they talked about earlier. Korn's new song Twisted Transistor fits that description, and its still metal. And as for how they won't have turntables anymore as they aren't nu-metal, the band incubus uses turntables, and it isn't nu-metal. Linkin Park has always had good songs, and i don't think they will fail us.
