Official lyrics video for "When We Stand Together" off their upcoming album Here and Now: This is god awful. It sounds like they're trying to emmulate Michael Jackson but failing terribly...
I'm going to be honest: It's not that bad. Decent lyrics and it is a little catchy. I've grown out of my brief Nickelback phase when I was like 14 but this really isn't that bad of a song imo. Come at me, brosephs.
I like it! The lyrics are kind of cheesy but they have a good message behind them. Never did understand why Nickelback always gets the treatment they do. I don't consider myself a fan, and I haven't downloaded any of their albums, but I've liked/tolerated pretty much every single they put out on radio. And if any one type of person should be sick of them, it's a Canadian. Not saying this is the case for anyone in this thread, but it feels like some people hate them because it's trendy and cool.
I have to agree with Ben and Mark... It's not god awful in my opinion. I think Nickelback gets such a bad wrap because of how they kind of sold out their heavy sound for more catchy and poppy ballads with country undertones. Anyways, Ive heard a lot of things more terrible than this. It's actually listenable and like Mark said it carries a good message.
They tell us everything's all right And we just go along How can we fall asleep at night When something's clearly wrong When we could feed a starving world With what we throw away But all we serve are empty words That always taste the same I will go as far to say if any other band was singing the same lyrics a lot of people would like this song.
Haha, Nickelback still getting hate. Never really understood it myself either, there are a shit ton of other bands with exactly the same radio-rock style who don't get half the hate these do. I'd never honestly say they abandoned their "hard rock" roots, they were never really that to begin with, plus they seem to have the usual combination of hard / fun / party rock songs on their albums alongside the softer radio tunes. They released "Bottoms Up" off the new album at the same time, which is geared towards the rock club vibe.
Maybe if they were used in a good song, but those are terrible lyrics whatever the sentiment is. I generally don't like this particular brand of mediocre radio rock, whichever band is doing it. Lots of people will tell you the same. I would hazard a guess that because Nickelback are the biggest one they have the most exposure and therefore the most hatred directed at them.
The thing I hate most about this band is how they're one of the first bands people mention when people bring up Canadian music.
