Breaking with Warner would be difficult, if not impossible. But I don't see the band with any intention of breaking away, which sucks. What they could do at least is change the producer, though.

I'm buying the explicit if I can. My mom let me had a South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut DVD, she won't notice (because she speaks Spanish ;) ). [/b][/quote]
They wouldn't have trouble finding another label, that's for sure. So why not?

I was thinking the exact same thing. It would be very easy for LP to find a new label.

It would be the end of LP's career if they leave warner.

LP could easily ink a deal with Epic or Sony if they ever left Warner. Easily.

or they could start their own label. Do the things they wanna do and make all the decisions themselves

But i think that would take up a lot of their money/time.

Anyway i hope there is a explicit version and clean version.....which should have also been the case for Reanimation and Live in texas

Then, what happens to all the stuff that LP released with Warner? Will LP still receive money for that?

The problem is not how easy they could find someone else, but the contracts artists sign are really hard to get out of. They are binding for like, uh... ever.

And it'll be hell for the record company to get them back if they leave. LL Cool J completed his 10 album deal he signed to in 1985, two years ago. Def Jam gave him ownership of all his material in return for his signing a new contract. "Def Jam signed me and hit the lottery, it wasn't free but don't call it a robbery".

Yes. Artists get deals like "we will own... er, support you for [insert number here] albums." Most artists don't even get to that [insert number here]. And those that do risk losing all royalties from the albums they had under that record company unless they sign again.

Yeah. Korn just completed their 10 (I think) album deal with Epic by releasing the Greatest Hits album. I have a feeling their new stuff (independantly released) is going to rock so hard if Jon can start writing about new things. And it'll most likely include the "Head Like A Hole" cover Chester did with them. :D

It just occurred to me... that's why so many artists come out with 'Greatest Hits' huh?

And LP seems to be working very hard to leave it as well. A remix album, a collab. album, a live album, two regular albums...

    5 more albums til independence!

    [We hope] :wth:

Does anyone actually know how many albums LP has been inked for? They should really just get rid of Don Gilmore, i'm not sure if it's the record company thats doing it to them, rather than just Don Gilmore.

It's really screwed up the way record companies and artists work together. Or more like don't...if only there was some other way...

You can't blame Don Gilmore for everything. I mean, he did produce Hybrid Theory. It wasen't just his fault Meteora was bad.

Artists some times get jumpy when they get offered a record deal and just sign it, and don't read it. If you read it carefully you find some stuff, that might stop you from making anything. Also signing one album contracts are smarter too, just incase something bad happen on the way... and yeah it isn't Don's fault Meteora is so bad, for that most part. Linkin Park still can choose what goes on the album, even if Don doesn't like it.

Was Meteora REALLY that bad? I mean, yeah, I didn't think it was up to par with Hybrid Theory, but when compared to other albums released in 2003...it was one of my favorites, if not the favorite...

Anyway, this comment is for much earlier in the post, but for some reason I remember that Jay-Z came on stage with LP in New Jersey on the PR:04 tour and did some medleys...I always wondered how they had time to practice those songs while in the middle of a tour...

Their recorded performance from The Roxy was on July 18th in Los Angeles. The New Jersey concert happened at the PNC Convention Center in Holmdel on July 30th. They had practiced it 12 days before.
