if you go to www.newegg.com you can find 2gb of ram for about 140 bucks.

Yeah, but if he's getting a new computer, getting the minimum for next gen is nearly useless. If it requires 1gig to run, apps and games are gonna need some too

 

Hence why you should get a 64-bit processor. You can run a shitload of RAM with it...what's the max for Vista gonna be again (can't remember it right now) ?

 

Max should be as much as you can cram into your motherboard.
