thanks for the review! i am really pumped for this record. your review makes me even more exited. Now I'm curious what chesters rapping will be like.. i just know that when he rapped in the past it always looked kind of funny live But if Mike is singing, Chester should be allowed to rap. Maybe he's the new Slim Shady. Maybe we can expect a solo album of Chester with rapping He's gonna be the MAN in the rap-buisness Perhaps he's got even more skills than Mike.. that's why he always kept him in the background. However, I think that the journalists of einslive were ridiculous at times. "Is this the last record??" omfg, facepalm... There could have been better questions of the "fans" as well. I couldn't go there. Hopefully I'll get a slot for Hamburg, but I dont think so. SPARGEL!
Thanks for the review Ana. I know it must be real hard to explain the songs, especially from just one listen. Props for the attempt. I feel a little more prepped to hear something radically different from LP, for instance, the public speeches. Didn't see those coming.
If you know pendulum, you'll know their alien-like intros and on this song (until 0:37) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXq7PkY8DlE it really sounds similar to the song I described to have a public speech. Note: just until 0:37 after that its totally different For the first time on a LP record, there are other artists/people featured. The intro is so amazing, it gave me goosebumps and I had tears in my eyes because I was so excited, proud and I loved the intro so much! I played Halo, Lostplanet and etc. once and it totally gave me the feeling that I was someone preparing for a hard fight...like you're in a bunker and you are moving slower to the exit where you can only see light and that female voice (beautiful) keeps singing "we're burning inside the fire of a thousand suns" Damn there were quite a lot elements Ive heard before on others songs (by other artists) but I cant find them .. sorry -> it would only spoil the incredible experience.
Similar style (without the talking) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqIEvH7sGQ0 I forgot to ask about the guest appearances sorry. AND YES a few elements sound like the beginnings of every INNERPARTY SYSTEM song
thanks 4 d review...i like to see LP trying something different..i basically think this is a step they r taking for their next album(which i think some1 mentined that they are gonna head for the studios much early)..so i think..they are goin to combine all 4(including ATS) for the next one after ATS..to cr8 somethin more for fans and themselves together..bring back old elements with newer ones... im so optimistic for ATS...cant wait 4 septmbr... well..i guess u've got a different definition of pop...!!..and basically TLTGYA and In pieces mean so much and they r beautiful and also Valentines day.....!! TLGYA..is infact one of the fav songs of many LP fans(me included)..
What? In Between = epic Valentine's Day = Epic TLTGYA = 100x epic well back to ATS: the lyrics are not as strong as we are used to, but they have a deeper meaning and on some songs they are SLIGHTLY similar to the catalyst.
Good sign for me. I love both and now when it kind of mixed together I wanna see a result even more. Thanks for the review!
lyrics we'r used to..???..as in the way d song revovles around the lyrics or just the lyrics... M2M had really beautiful lyrics and had deep meaning...LOATR,what i've done, shadow of the day TLTGYA,... Meteora wud be rated(by me) as second best in lyrics... and i think catalyst stands between these two...
The lyrics are still strong and deep... I cant remember most of it btw: Mike posted that Robot Boy got a pretty high voting rank by the band...I so hope it's not the chester rapping song...if it really is: than the guys really really wanted the album to be different from anything they've done..
I doubt they used autotune, probably just a flanger effect like in "The Catalyst" Also, I think you're forgetting that LP were talking about creating unexpected things (in LPTV "something new"), which is why the scream probably doesn't fit in #7. It's like abstract art, you need to see where the artist is coming from to appreciate it. @ana: That was last year when Robot Boy was a working title. They didn't know it was going to be the final name, they just went with it. Like "Faint" and "Figure.09" from Meteora.
I think Robot Boy got, 8,75. Mike said it had the highest rating at that time mike wrote this message. I'm sure there a a view songs which got a 9,x rating by the band, though too high ratings are dangerous...
