guys, hate to change the sublect here, but i heard something yesterday. apparently microsoft is getting tired of all the stuff going down w/ipod, and they are losing business. SO.......they decided to make their own thing. a video player. came out on september 2, i haven't seen it yet, but i think it is pretty cool. it still plays music and stuff, but yeah. i thought it would be cool until i heard that it is selling for $500. f*** that. anyway. i was just wondering, is the reason why some of you don't like ipods is because they are from apple... cuz i hate that part too, i am a diehard windows fan, and i can't just change to apple just like that. but i think in the long run it would be beneficial for me to get an ipod, so i dont' have to worry about losing cds or anything like that. back to the subject at hand.
Hehe well I'm the odd man out. I've got a CD/MP3 Player but I usually use my mini-disk player. The mini-disk uses 1 AAA battery, lasts forever, and holds about 40 tracks per minidisk. And I don't think mini disks are that expensive, they're rewritable, and they look darn cool . I'd still like an Ipod though.
I used to hate mp3 players and was never interested in an iPod until I realized just how much I was using my cd player and how much music I had. So for me, it was a good deal. Plus, mine was free so that made it even better
i really want one. my parents had a minidisc thing, i thought it would be a good idea, but the problem is that i would have to buy everything to put the songs on them and stuff like that. i dont know if it would be a good idea at this point.
If you encode them with the low setting on Sonicstage, you can get like 74 on a minidisc, and there's pretty much no noticable quality loss.
That's why I copy my CD's, or rip them into MP3 form.
It would be a better idea to rip all those cds into .wav files for future converting, just incase a new format comes out.

oh you can do that? i didn't know they can be converted later on, i mean, i knew they could, but i thought they all could. i didn't think there was anything special about .wav's.
