The whole members of the LP are unique.. Mike should not haf started FM and Chester should not solo.. Or he is. Well anyway, I think they should, you know like stay together work on another world wide selling album.. :wth:
Why do people think LP should get rid of Don Gilmore? LP write and perform the music. It's not as if he made Meteora Hybrid Theory II, all he did is produce it.
People get the notion Gilmore is to blame for Meteora's production value due to the Making Of... DVD. In it, the band expresses some frustrations/comments in which target Gilmore for constantly having them re-write lyrics to an area. Judging from that, I believe people start to believe Gilmore went with the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" idea thus the whole "blame Don Gilmore" erruption. You can't blame them, though. A lot of fans can only go by what they see and hear, and it's clear/obvious that the band had some opinions on the music (lyrically no doubt) from the DVD documents. What's not known is how Gilmore might have affected them instrumentally or if his part in the lyric revisions were even that large, but what's clear is what's in front of us. A sophomore album with less pluck than their debut, and a DVD with only assumptions to go by. It's not surprising the fans will look towards producers as the downfall of their favorite artists or their music. Also, sometimes producers have more power over a band than you think. I'm not saying or implying anything, but sometimes it doesn't matter what an artist thinks, if the producer doesn't like it, the producer might/will change it despite the artist's decision(s).
