I do find the idea of using native not necessarily Japanese but asian instruments. I always loved that style and I feel like it would fit perfectly in LP's style. I loved the flutes in Faint and the Japanese bell like style in In Pieces and the synths in Jornada del Muerto that really reminded me of Tokyo. Japan and China have some very cool string instruments that can be incorporated

The kind of music I'd want to hear is what I can best describe as Industrial or Trip-Hop. Just break down all the barriers and get weird. ATS wasn't as weird as a lot of people make it out to be.
Wouldn't mind some very up-tempo rock songs. The kind of stuff you just want to run to. Think "Battle of One" by 30STM, "Panic Switch" by Silversun Pickups, or even a new song resembling "Faint" (with better lyrics of course). Also would love some dancy rock stuff. Think Pendulum's "The Island (Pt. 1)".
I have no problem with the band continuing their electronic path, and even sounding more like Pendulum or whatever as long as it sounds good. My problem is that even though Mike has a great singing voice, I feel like his hip-hop talents have become pretty much ignored. Sure ATS had more rap tracks than Minutes To Midnight and felt more like a "Hybrid" than MTM, but I know a lot of people who liked Linkin Park for their hip-hop elements and who feel Mike has kind of been pushed to the background lately and needs to come out swinging on the next album. This doesn't mean I want them to make something like what they've done before, but it'd be nice to hear some more Fort Minor influence on the next album, considering that Mike has said repeatedly that he's putting his "Fort Minor energy" into Linkin Park.
If they do go more electronic, I hope they go more like Radiohead or even Deftones more "trip Hop" styled songs. Really weird, strange and off the wall soundscapes that really push the barriers that define "music" & "sound". The Requiem is the step in the right direction, but I whole album like it would be immense.
Five 6 minute tracks with all the the guys going insane on their respective instruments. Doesn't even have to sound "good," just as long as it has that garage band feel to it.
what steve12 is exactly right, it's the best move ever that they moved to meteora to MTM in the first place, because you dont know what to expect.
really cool album it's just so cool it's a feeling i've never felt before when i listened to the album, it's so calming listening to ATS and all the other albums mixed together is just amazing i cant find any other words to describe it other than that
