At the very least Chester didn't have the same stage personality that he normally has. Excluding some sporadic moments, he was pretty stationary. I thought he went back and forth on his vocal performance, but it was never terrible. His screams were really good, so it's odd. Maybe he was just tired and or sick. Especially after the performance that LP_Evan posted. I did specifically check the comments here though to see if anyone else thought the same about Chester however. :/
I thought since Roads Untraveled made it's way to the Phillipines charity cd, it would be played live.. Still nothing :/
Yeah Chester actually seemed a little awkward to me personality-wise. Idk why I felt that way but some of his comments just seemed un-Chester-like, like when he would say thank you to the guest artists over the mic, sometimes more than once. Idk he just usually never says those things. He also never keeps his sunglasses on for the whole show. I don't want to stir up shit or anything, but maybe he was drunk.
It was a special night so of course he would thank the musical acts more than once. Mike was doing the same. Also, its not like they have many guest acts join their concerts, especially on this magnitude. It was an important show which in a certain sense demanded interaction. As for the sunglasses, I think it could just be a phase he is going through. He did perform ALTNC on Jimmy Kimmel with his shades on the whole time. Despite the drunk option, I still do believe in the alternative being he actually was sick. The way he acted reminded me of his mannerisms for the sao-paulo 2012 show.
Chester was sick for pretty much the entire week leading up to the shows, starting on the second day of rehearsals. He skipped the production rehearsal the day before the Harman show, and also left the pre-show soundcheck for the Concert for the Philippines early. Him being sick is why ALTNC was dropped from the Vegas show despite being on the setlist, and why he sounded "off" throughout the weekend's performances. I think he worked pretty well with what he had left in the tank by Saturday, and trust me, he was NOT drunk.
Ok come on guys, we know Chester. He's tend to get sick alot! So he was sick that day. As for being off-key, he knew already.....like the guys won't tell him, over and over again, in the back after the show.
Are you serious? After the show, I know both Chester and Dave came down from the stage and hung out with the attendees in the crowd. I have some friends who went to the show and not one said anything about him being drunk. It was confirmed, however, that he was sick. What Astat said was true.
Didn't you know? Legend has it that LP_Evan is able to smell alcohol from afar, even from behind his screen! The police could use someone as gifted as him/her! Seriously, though, he was sick.
Um, that wasn't my own theory; I believe I read about it on the chesterbnetwork homepage. I was just passing along the information I had to my favorite LP fan site. And I never doubted that he was sick.
That ballad melody with the Filharmonic was stunning and beautiful. I'm really happy LP cares about my family and people back in the Philippines, even though I'm a Filipino-American born in the U.S. So I'm really happy they did the concert. I didn't care how it sounded or the technicalities, the fact that my favorite band did a special charity concert for the Philippines was all I needed to enjoy this. Also major props to Chester for doing the show sick! I don't think I could ever do that, no matter how hard I try.
Dedication and sources. Astat is like a walking, talking, living, breathing Linkin Park Encyclopedia.
Is it just me or anyone else also thinks that Chester screams infinitely better when he is sick? For example..Look at his perofrmance in Itunes Festival 2011;He was sick there too but his screams sounded godly..
he also recorded Victimized while having a headache! DAYUM! but seriously...why does everyone bitch? For the fact that he was sick he put on a damn good show and for obvious reasons it was not one of his best. But still TO ME this shows that in a sense "I don't care if I am sick. This stuff is for a good cause so no matter how sick I am if do the best I can with my illness" seriously how many professional musicians call in sick for something simple as a running nose. so collecting all we have and considering he was sick this was a indeed VERY good performance
Is it me, or did the Breaking The Habit bridge sound a lot better than it has in a while? Hell, that entire song sounded pretty damn good.
um....can someone confirm this? Chester did not not seem sick to me whatsoever. In fact, it was one of the Best Concerts if not the best he did for 2011 and was almost flawless. Btw, Seeing how a lot of you haven't seen the first few songs for the performances, I thought I would leave this here. New Divide is the one song I cannot find whatsoever. Maybe its for the best... Faint One Step Closer
Definitely just a phase. ...Come on. Doesn't anyone remember the video for What I've Done, where the whole band looked like they just walked off the set of Mad Max? Or the ATS tour with Mike rocking leather jackets and big ass sunglasses?
