Hopefully someone out there can help me solve the last great LP demo mystery out there. I have yet to find a reasonable post or website that explains why:

    1. There are potentially 4 demos of a Place For My Head

    2. There are potentially 3 demos of By Myself

    3. There are potentially 3 demos of Points Of Authority

Even this site doesn't correctly state all of these demo possibilities so it would be great if someone could correctly list each of the seperate versions with correct times and names, I'll list what I have to start:

    ---------------------

A Place For Head Demos (3/4):

    Esaul (Studio demo 1999) 2:38
Esaul (A Place For My Head Demo) 3:13
A Place For My Head Demo (Demo) 3:11

    ----------------------

    By Myself (2/3)

    By Myself (Demo) 3:18
    SuperXero (By Myself Demo) 3:17

    -----------------------

    Points Of Authority (2/3)

Points Of Authority (Demo 1) 2:50
Points Of Authority (Demo 2) 3:31

    ------------------------

Hopefully we can come up with the answers to this B)

I was doing some research and i found that Forgotten has 2 demos. Rhinestone, which is the demo of it off of LP's first album Xero (their first name) and then another demo of it that is more like the album, but different lyrics.

Right, I knew that because I have two versions. Xero put it out first then later they recorded with Chester. All of the other demos seem to be solved except the ones I listed :(

The 3rd points of authority demo is still uncirculated. It was only released on a cassette put out just before they changed their name from 'hybrid theory'. I've only ever seen two of them myself, one of which is owned by energy. I think he described it as more of an alternatley mixed version rather than a full-blown 'demo'.
Your turn to correct me now anthony. :p

*EDITED* To download the lyrics for each version in a notepad file, right click and save target as on the links after each name, or just left click to open them in a new window.

All the song lengths on these are obviously give or take a second or two depending on how much silence is cut before and after the track.

A Place for My Head: 4/4
    1. Esaul (Live version on Frat Party) 2:36 LYRICS
    2. Esaul (HT 9-track Demo Disc) 3:06 LYRICS
    3. Esaul (HT 2-track Demo disc and hybridtheory.com) 3:10 LYRICS
    4. A Place for My Head (hybridtheory.com) 3:09 LYRICS

1, 2, and 3 are all clearly different, 3 and 4 only have 1 lyrical difference between them, but if you have them both and listen to them, you can hear the differences in the voices and music.

    By Myself: 3/3
    1. Super Zero (HT 9 track Demo disc, yes that's how it's spelled on the cover) 3:14 LYRICS
    2. Super Xero (HT 2-track Demo disc) 3:15 LYRICS
    3. By Myself (hybridtheory.com) 3:13 LYRICS

1 and 2 are clearly different, 2 and 3 only have a small lyrical difference in the bridge, but once again, the vocals and music sound different between 2 and 3.

    Points of Authority: 2/3
    1. Points & Authority (HT 9 track demo disc, that's how it's spelled on the cover, also released as Points Of Authority on hybridtheory.com, it's the version with the "sink or swim" bridge part) 2:46
    2. Points of Authority (AKA "Vertical Limit," the one with Mike's alternate rap verse) 3:23
    3. ???

I don't have the 3rd one, I've heard 2 different stories about what it's like. One is that it has the alternate rap verse AND the "sink or swim" bridge, but that sounds like it could just be a fan remix to me. The other more likely story is that it's a slightly different mixed version, similar to Now I See.

I hope I've cleared things up for everyone. :)

Thanks for that list! Unfortunately, I found out that I haven't got the 2nd EsaĂșl demo. ;)
But I didn't know about the name "Super Zero" as well. Thanks for your research!

Yeah thanks! That's a huge help; great job :D

So...are we to assume then that no one possesses the third POA demo? If that's the case then it will have to go on the list of demos we'll probably never hear along with the Meteora ones and the original Plaster lol.

Actually, in that little sticky thread above this one, they do go through all the demos, just not the times.

There is no 3rd POA demo in circulation.

has any of you been able to find the Points & Authority version of POA?

As far as I can tell, I only need 2 more demos, That version of POA and the Forgotten Demo

I just completed a trade w/ tasta and I now have all the demos of APFMH (4) and By Myself (3). I enjoy listening to all the demos even though some have few differences between them. I collect them and they are a part of LP history.

i have seen people label live recordings (in the studio) of in the end, points of authority and papercut as demos. dont know if you would class them as actual demos but its pretty cool to hear them.

Those were just b-sides on some of the Hybrid Theory CD singles, recorded at BBC Radio One.

Most likely not... seeing as there's speculation on whether or not Plaster alone actually exists in general, that the idea that there are two is just absurd.

    Most likely fake.

In the End CD #1 of 2, to be exact. ;)

and XVZ, the version of OSC with just drums and bass or whatever is a backing track released on a Guitar World CD or something, just something that the magazine people made for guitarists to play along to.

That would be correct, there's only 3 By Myself Demos and the Esual Studio Demo is the same one from the Fratparty DVD.
