Nobody can make completely original music anymore. Everything sounds like something someone has done before. That is a bad agrument when you're trying to rip on MTM.

Yeah it's kind of dumb for us to continue talking about Meteora. You're either a fan of it (like me) or not. I completely understand where you guys are coming from. It's just that what you say is wrong with the record is a plus to me. HT is one of my favorite albums. So it's like I have two of them. That's just how I look at it.

A Thousand Suns is better than everything else. That's all that really matters right now :).

ATS has been said to sound like NIN, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, U2, The Beatles, Public Enemy, etc. Nothing original, either. The point of MTM is for LP to try out different styles outside their formulaic "nu metal." LP did just that.

People who hate on ATS see it only as a soft, "guitar-less" collection of songs. They obviously missed the point of album.
Similarly, those who despise MTM see it as a generic, all-over-the-place album. People also missed the point of MTM.

This album (Mtm) was a masterpiece. Linkin Park didn't go through and identity crisis. They never had a measuring stick or an album that defined them. They never kept a genre. This is more obvious with A Thousand Suns.

MTM is a masterpiece? That made me a little sick reading that.

Well for them it was. Haha I should watch what I say. I found it far superior than the first two studio albums. The lyrical themes were much more broad and diverse than ever before, and the album itself had so many good tracks.

Yeah calling M2M a masterpiece is definitely stretching it. I mean, it can be your favorite album of all time, but an album with no sonic identity/no flow and an unoriginal sound (as stated by Louis) can't really be called a masterpiece imo.

I agree Ben, but unoriginal? Every song sounded different whether it be heavy bass over keys jingling, reversed chilling synths, motown drums and heavy guitars, creepy piano play over textural guitars, marching drums over organs, ska plucking, ahhh you get the point. This album is overlooked way too much and it doesn't deserve to be looked at as if it was just some stepping stone to A Thousand Suns. It was it's own album. Listen to it front and back, every single sound, and then you will know what I mean. Before it was time to catch up, it was time pour it in and make it a dirt dance floor again.
