This is messed up. I had all that #### going on, but now that I'm downloading the patch I haven't had to restart all day. I've been on for 20 minutes. Oh, and it only seemed to happen when I was off the net. The same for you guys?

Actually for me, as soon as I turned on my modem, I'd get that damn error message, although I'd still get it offline. :argh:

    Edit:

    Very helpful

After this, you won't have the problem for sure.

And I was wrong, it affects only Windows XP and Windows 2000 users, not NT.

Did anyone have the worm slip through McAfee because I haven't got the worm yet. (and I'm happy about that)

The worm will slip through your anti-virus as it slipped past my Norton.

Go to that link I posted because there's a program there that looks for the worm and deletes it and then takes you to the patch website.

Yeah, because I have Norton, and it got through. So download! Jonny's totally right.

For those of you who have XP and have the virus, don't worry. You have an advantage over all other users. You should be able to stop the virus right in it's tracks. When your computer starts and you see windows (make sure you have XP), hit CTRL>ALT>DEL then go to the tabs and press Processes. Look under all the processes and look for msblast.exe. Click end process. It should stall it for about 2 minutes.

If only I did that when I had the virus. Seems like WTH>You's way is much faster.

I had the virus, did what I told you and saved me so much time to get the patch and smack the virus right in it's face.

See, that would have been a great solution but the thing is, I didn't know what the hell was affecting my computer. I think everyone on here is safe by now, but yeah, thanks.

My ISP had me disconnect my modem, put up my firewall, and then download the patch.

What a point you have :p

You can't get infected if you have; Microsoft Windows 95; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition (SE); or Windows Millennium (Me).

    I never knew that

    No.

Windows XP, 2000 and NT systems are the only systems vulnerable.
