Kill em all is the only metallica album I could get into. Death is a good one too.

Kudos to those who mentioned Pearl Jam - Ten and 30 Seconds to Mars first record. I also forgot about those!

Well, in fact, there are so much great first records that it's almost impossible to not forget some ^^'

On the other side, Kill Em All by Metallica is good, but I wouldn't consider it that great for a first record. Lot of great riffs and hooks; my problem with the album is how Hetfield's voice sounded at the time I guess.

I can't stand later metallica. It always just struck me as Slayer-esque, only more. . . Pussy.

Gorillaz debut album I agree on. I think as artists Homework by Daft Punk is amazing and really changed the EDM scene back then. deadmau5 - Random Album Title (not his first, but debut) is very good aswell, although he had an advantage as he wasn't a 'new' artist as such. DJ Fresh - Escape From Planet Monday is a godly produced album, much better than some of his newer stuff, check it out. Oh and I forgot: Paloma Faith - Do You Want The Truth, Or Something Beautiful? is a really good, talented debut album.

Great stuff, as is most things listed.

Good point on Daft Punk's "Homework," helped change electronic music forever.

As far as being an independent artist reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' debut album The Heist is one of the most impressive debuts I've ever seen.
