So do the infractions go away a year from now or a year from when you first got it?

 

Todd said infractions that have already gone over the year-mark are gone, so I'd imagine they'll disappear a year from whence you got it.

Everyone is more awesome than you, and it would give some members false hope in thinking they're actually cool.

I think the issue is mainly that people seem to think the LPA is some form a family, but it isn't. It is just an online forum and, like in a classroom or workplace, people will make friends and pay more attention to those people than to other users or individuals. If I post something in the GSYWTLO through, I am unlikely to get a response at all. This is just how thinks go, as I am not that popular a user (despite being here 3.5 years). But I can't really complain that people talk to their friends before they talk to random people, that is life.

The staff is unpaid and human so I guess they got lazy and started to form friendships and let people get away with things they usually wouldn't due to their popularity and/or what they contributed in the past. I am sure this is being rectified now though. I don't see any reason to leave.

 

I don't think the staff got lazy at all, they just got more lax and lenient with their rules, because there was a time when it seemed like warnings were given out every other hour and members who could've contributed greatly got banned and those banned members became a dime a dozen. They proceeded to sign up on other forums and rant about how awful the LPA was and all that, causing all the false misconceptions about the site, which is a huge reason, I think, why the staff is more lenient nowadays.

 

i'll be honest and admit the real reason i left (for a week; suck on that will!) is because there's a few members on here that i genuinely don't like and i think they ask for respect way too much when they don't give it in the first place to other people.
