There's a lot of text, and i have small amounts of brain power right now so I haven't read it all, but I've read enough to know that I've missed something vaguely important.

I don't really know what's going on, on this forum. Nor do I really want to. I can't demand that people to get along. There's only one thing that I can suggest how ever little help that it may be. I'd suggest that along with making new users read the rules, the moderators and admins make up an test based upon the rules. If the people pass the test then allow them to become a member on the forum. If they fail the test more than a certain number of times, let them become a member and ban their IP so that they can not acess the forums. Make it known that the test is a very important part of registration and the like. This suggestion may seem extreme but with a test new members would have no excuse to not follow the rules. They'd know them and understand them. It may sound like a rediculious idea but in all honesty it's the only thing I can think of to pervent future drama.

The only problem with that is that the rules are readily available, so during the test, you can do what I used to do.

Well yeah, people will be able to see the rules, but that's the idea. Get them to actually read the rules, because I'm sure nearly everyone just clicks the "I Accept" button without reading them. This could actually force them to look over them

It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure if we'd ever implement something like that or not.

Yes, like I had said it may be extreme but like Todd had said it would force people to actually look at the rules instead of just skipping over them and waiting for the counter to complete. I admit I did not read the rules at first but after a while I did go over them and read them like I should have in the first place. And if you have to read back to read the rules to answer the questions the test would be doing exactly what it's suppose to. Either way new members wouldn't have any reason to complain about infractions that they would get. Yeah I don't think this would be on the LPA but I was throwing out an odd suggestion. I like this forum, I want to keep it around and so I said what I thought would actually help in doing this site some good.

You can never force people to read rules when they are registering. Everyone is just used to checking "I Agree" and moving on. Although I don't like the idea about a test, I guess that anyone with a three-digit IQ will be able to solve the test about some forum's rules without reading them just using simple logic and the experience they have on other forums.

I think the rules need to change though. Because for one, it says don't swear, and yet we constantly swear on here.

And swearing is okay, in my opinion. Just not in excess. And if you're utterly offended by swearing, then...grow up.

But a test? Haha, I like the idea, I like tests. :p

Edit: And also, I don't think the infractions should be permanent. Especially if you got the infraction for something minor like asking for an mp3. Just what I think.

Seeing from this, your punishment options consist of:
-warnings to get an infraction point (small offenses)
    -infraction points (bigger offenses)
-permaban's (3 infraction points big offenses)

    right?
( I want to know this for sure before I make a suggestion, and that is if I may cause Im not that active here but I know a lot about this stuff considering Im a mod on one of the biggest gaming forums)

I agree actually. I've had an infraction for over a year now because I accidently said the R word. I'm not gonna bitch about it but I do think it's a little unfair that it's stuck with me for all this time under breaking the racial/homophobic rule when what I said was an accident and had no malice in it.

I think infractions should go away after a year or so if that person has not done anything else to break the rules.

I agree with luke I also got an infraction for basicly the same reason. I also agree that the no cursing rule needs to be tossed aside. We're all grown up here.

I meant that you're right on your view of the LPA system. Infractions and stuff.

    Smartass.

See? That's the sort of stuff that gets everyone riled up. It was a mistake in translation, so let's just leave it at that.

Exactly. Let's not be so quick to jump down people's throats people. It's half of the reason for the negativity here.

Your wish is our command. Infractions now expire after a year. I also applied this to all previous infractions as well, so some of you who had year old infractions on your record now no longer have them.

Everyone who has received an infraction in the past: Do me a quick favor and check your profile page. You'll see all of your infractions, and it should say that it's either expired or it will expire a year after the infraction was given. If it still says it never expires, or something else, send me a PM. Also, for the total infraction points (upper right corner of the infraction table) it should be the number of unexpired infractions you have. Again, send me a PM if it's anything different than that.

NOTE: Once you reach your 3 infractions, that's it. You're banned for good, you're not unbanned when one of them expires in a year. And this isn't an excuse to do something really stupid once each year either, we will take previous expired infractions into account if you really start to become a douchebag, for lack of a better word

If you've got no infractions, you're not going to see an infractions table, right?
