Starting up the year right, the January MMU, themed after Drum and Bass remixes, received a multitude of entries. All of which were fantastic pieces! Remixes ranged from fast tempo electronically driven sets to more mellow, sombre tunes. Despite the difficulty with the large pool of entries, here is the Winner and the Runner-Ups to January's MMU contest: WINNER: Nook Skin To Bone (Remixed by Switchface vs Dreamulacrum) Click here to listen! Taking the MMU contests two months in a row, Nook claimed the title of best remix for "Drum and Bass" with his energy packed rendition of SKIN TO BONE. The remix features a lengthy build up that drives straight into a classic D&B beat. Layered upon the haunting vocals from the original song, the remix is an exciting, yet mesmerizing piece! Congratulations Nook! We look forward to your future remixes in future MMU contests! Following a tough competition, both DirtyBlup and The2ndHope earned the title of being Runner-Ups to this month's contest. Listen to them below: What I've Done (DirtyBlup - DnB remix) Click here to listen! Featuring a combination of genre influences that were above and beyond the standard "Drum and Bass" requirements, the What I've Done Remix features a very catchy rendition of the original piano melody. Along with the "Drum and Bass" and synth beats, this is a most listen remix! The DirtyBlup remix was personal favorites to many LPA members! Blackout (The2ndHope DNB Remix) Click here to listen! The2ndHope created an excellent rendition of Blackout that featured a fast tempo, heart pumping, synth exciting instrumental. Remaining close to the original structure of the song, The2ndHope placed his own DNA within the song. Regarding the lead-in to The2ndHope's remix, since his Drum and Bass remix of Blackout did so well, who wants to hear the full remix of Leave Out All The Rest as well? A quick thank you to all the remixers for the month of January! We look forward to hearing your submissions for the February STAGELIGHT Monthly Mix Up! Let us know what you think about the Winners and entries for the January MMU Contest in our forums!
Is it just me, or on the "chorus" of Nook's remix... is Chester's voice more prevalent? I don't know, weird feeling I got from that track that CB's vocals seemed much more prominent. It's absolutely amazing. EDIT: TYPOS!
WOW! To be honest I didn't expect my submission to win this time, since drum'n'bass isn't my "native" style and the competition was really hard to top. At least in my opinion. Nevertheless thanks for picking my work as the best this month. It really means a lot to me Congrats to DirtyBlup and The2ndHope plus huge props to all the entrants for really amazing stuff
STB remix sounds awesome after the first couple of minutes, but I kinda dislike the vocals on the first half. It has a really great beat, though. Congrats to everyone!
congrats to all the winners, another job well done guys i personally would of liked to see Robot's Remix in the runner up section, but alas it wasn't so in fact you only have 2 runners up, were as other months you've had 3 or 4 runners up.....put him up
3-4 Runner ups usually happen when we have a lot of entries, a tie or only 1-2 votes separating finalists. It's not something we always do.
thank you guys for choosing me and thanks for the kind words, i'm really really happy that my track is the favorite for many LPA members, also congratulations to Nook and the2ndhope. Actually i prefer this way for the "premiation", because in this way, with just a few runners up and with a comment, it stimulates me to make something new every time.
Good choice for the winner! and congratulations to Nook the What I've Done Remix by DirtyBlup is also a nice one - the piano line is just awesome! and for The2ndHope I would've been surprised if he wouldn't have been selected as runner-up (at least) [please correct me if that is bad grammar!] @Glen: thx! it is what the MMU "jury" decided - and I am fine with that ^^ like I said the winner deserves it and I couldn't decide who should be a runner-up because I like most of the entries btw Glens & Shuprs remixes were my favorites of February so...
I meant the overall grammar of my post^^ just because I wasn't sure if the last one was right but good to know that I spelled your name right
Don't know where to put this. So I'm posting this here. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/linkin-parks-mike-shinoda-becomes-a-mentor-for-the-grammys-20130209
