Hits Daily Double reports that Minutes To Midnight sold 625,386 copies in its first week of release in the U.S. If this holds true, this is far and away the highest debut for any album released in 2007; over 200,000 more copies than the previous high held by Norah Jones. Congrats to Linkin Park!

We'll have official final tallies tomorrow.

AWESOME. It's great to know that this band can still move this many records, especially in the current industry. Congrats to LP.

Meteora was 800k or so, right?

    Regardless, still cool.

Meteora was also released about 4 years ago, remember.

This is great to hear (if it's true). At least we'll be able to find out tomorrow finally!

think about it when ht came out about 4 or 5 of my friends had music programs and burners, meteora about half. Now just about everyone you know dl's and burns cd's so 600k is quite an achievment, congrats

    This is indeed 100% true.

The final sales will be announced tomorrow.

HDD is normally off a bit by 5%...so they could've done 620-630K.

    Either way, 100% past 600K!

I wonder if the leak improved or had negative effects on the opening sales chart. Although its sales aren't as high as Meteora's 810,000 copies sold in its opening week the sales are quite impressive.

In these days selling 625k for a debut album is almost ridiculous. So all I have to say is congrats to the boys. Another number 1 debut, go Linkin Park.

This is just amazing that many people supoorted the band. Is the 600k were talking about in the US. only??

LP is just dominating even these days. Most bands can't even beat thier debut sales. Other bands probobly needs like a year just to get 600k so THIS IS just AMAZING!! =)

It's cause they put more work into the album casing then most the other bands. A little something extra you don't get by just downloading.

I know that in the future, people will say "Minutes to Midnight" did not sell as much as "Meteora" in the first week, but they will forget that at this point in time it is difficult to even get gold status in the first week. 600,000 is a good number, hopefully it will to continue to gain numbers like "Hybrid Theory: did. I am still amazed how their first album rose to #2.
