No that doesn't make any sense. If they were to change their standards then they should apply it to albums only after the date they begin the new standards. Anyway, congrats to the band but if you compare album sales, I think it's fair to say they might have lost some audience. Yes HT took 8 months to reach 2x but that's because they were on the rise and relatively unknown still. That's not their status anymore. Either way, I think as long as they can sell some records and jam pack venues, they'll be doing fine.

yea but then again, this is a time where people dont buy cds anymore. the music industry is going down, way down. so 2x platinum is pretty good for this time. not to mention LP went number one in 32 countries. thats crazy!!! what other band out now has that kind of a universal effect? the 2x is only for the US and i always thought that LP was bigger outside of the states. does anyone know how much they sold worldwide anyways?
kanye west only sold that much because of the hype that he placed around the album with his fake feud. LP didnt need any gimmicks to sell records.

It has been certified 2x Platinum worldwide for sales of over 5.3 million copies, and has also been certified 2x Platinum just in the United States as well

    Best source ever!

I've never heard of a worldwide certification, because one doesn't exist.

According to worldwidealbums.net, they've sold somewhere between 4.6 million and 5 million copies of MTM worldwide to date.

Technically, they probably qualified for the 2x platinum certification in the states months ago. Kanye's album and the HSM 2 Soundtrack were certified 2x platinum after selling maybe 1.4 million copies or so. LP weren't certified until after they'd sold over 1.85 million. I'm pretty sure they'd shipped over 2 million long before that.

Wikipedia is a great, accurate place to find information.

...Apart from information about things like this. I think what most people here don't realise is that, for the vast majority of other kinds of information, it's great.

And to stop this post sounding like simply a plug for Wikipedia... uhh... well done Linkin Park!
