I'll remain cautious about this one. After how half-arsed LT was, this is the first LP album that I'm waiting to hear if it's any good before buying.

As I recall, they did a fair bit of jamming during the MTM sessions.

Overproduced, lifeless albums have been around a lot longer than digital. It all comes down to knowing what you're doing with the equipment, whether it's analog or digital. Same arguments are being had in the movie world, shooting on film vs shooting digital.

RE: the bolded. That's exactly what it is for most bands doing it. A trend.

For instance, Storm Corrosion is a beautiful, natural, full & earthy sounding record. All recorded on Pro Tools.
So any time a band comes out saying they're recording on tape I'm like "OK, so?".

I think what you're thinking of is when they tried recording some songs together as a band in a group performance. They've never actually done much writing through jamming though.

That would actually be an amazing album name. Totally down.

Yeah well it's supposed to be between order and chaos, so that is the obvious answer. Obvious

I'd rather have them title it as "Linkin Park - Linkin Park" than "Linkin Park - Between Order and Chaos". That is a terrible album name, it's like how one of Minutes To Midnight's almost names was "In Triumph and Tragedy". I'm cringing from names like those. Any name like that will cross them over to the emo pop side

Its better if they save the self-titled name for the finale album before they called quits... just don't make album title like LIVING THINGS again... that's a terrible name TBH..

I think CASTLE OF GLASS would've been a better album title than Living Things. i wonder why they haven't had an album title that is also a title of a song.

I wonder if the band parted ways with Rick Rubin, or if he's still helping with the new album in some sort of capacity. He wasn't bad for the band at all, brought quite a bit to the table. Hell, I've always said without Rick Rubin (and to an extent Jay Z), the band probably wouldn't be together right now. I mean if Rick didn't challenge the band, what state would they be in right now? It's great Mike's producing the album and it's mostly self-produced. But does that mean Rick's gone? :\

I'm sure that "mostly self-produced" implies that Rubin was involved to some degree. Some months ago, Shinoda told us that he'd done some writing with Rubin.

Well, A Thousand Suns was a reference to The Catalyst, "Will we burn inside the fire of a thousand suns." I think they don't like naming the album from a song title... I don't know why..

Well, production for the past 3 albums were done by both Mike and Rick. So I'm gonna guess this time around it would 90% and maybe 10%. Or maybe Rick would be an executive producer. I'm pretty certain he is still involved somehow.
In my eyes, he has basically become the father-figure for the band. I doubt there will be another LP album without him involved even a little bit. He is the one who got them to change sounds, after all.

I like it better when there's no title track. I mean, Placebo, for example, have seven albums, one of which is self-titled, and all the others have title tracks (except Black Market Music, although there's a song on the album called "Black Market Blood"). It ends up seeming kind of lazy, although in the end it doesn't really bother me.

I don't like it when an album is named after a song because it puts some emphasis on that track with the same name, which I think is not inherently a good thing
