I seriously think that all this electronic and edm stuff we've been hearing recently is a phase Mike went through musically. Although, it's not my cup of tea I'm glad he got it out of his system. I think the next album will be more heavy and guitar driven. That's not to say there won't be electronic elements because that's one of the core aspects of the band and always will be. I would be very surprised if it's anything like Living Things. I'm pretty excited about the prospects.
You're putting words in my mouth. I'm the last person on the planet who thinks "heavy = good. y they no do hybrd thery?" I'm saying that Halestorm is TALENTED AND GOOD aside from also being HEAVY and I don't see why they'd need to redefine modern rock or be disingenuous to who they are, which is, in my opinion, a fucking kick ass rock band.
Mike is gonna answer questions on facebook today. If people are gonna ask him stuff there, I want someone to ask him if there would be any epic guitar solos in the upcoming album. I feel that one of the few things that LP has still not done is having a solo driven song. Something like what Muse does. Once they do that, I can die in peace.
I'm not sure whether you guys are aware of it or not, but a sequel to the movie "The Raid" is coming out in early 2014 (according to IMDB).
You can say that most of the bands out there are talented and good, but we don't have any bands that will shake things up like LP or SOAD in 2000-2002...
All everyone needs to know about Mike's heavy comments can be found here: In two questions they pretty much said, and made it final that they are not going nu-metal. So even if the next disc is "heavy", it won't be heavy like we're used to. And I love how the last fan completely makes up a fake quote for Chester and got answered with a simple "No."
Yeah I was in that Q&A, it kinda pissed me off how he overlooked more substancial questions and answers one about cookies. I got so frustrated lol.
Well at least we know he's bad, he's bad, you know it. What questions do you feel were substantial that Mike didn't answer?
First I asked about the chance of solos coming back (because someone suggested around here), then I asked if the whole "rock music going soft" thing was really inspiring the band for LP6, also if they still worked with the "seed" methodology and how many were they coming up with lately (since the music is coming faster, it's unlikely they reach the 100-seed mark like in MTM), then I dumbed down the questions a bit asking why there was no IMR in Recharged (he did answer but to someone else), if Phoenix had ever tried laying vocals and finally, if there was a chance for the Download show to be recorded on DVD. All of them to no success. Not really deep or something like that but certainly not about scratching Rick Rubin's beard or when are you coming to _________.
Now I'll assume that by 'Heavy', they mean "Super-loud dubstep combined with new electronic sounds on which Chester is screaming his lungs out in a death-metal way."
Mike wasn't in mood to say much about future music, so that might be why he didn't answer many of those.
Pretty sure you're joking but just in case anyone believes your post to be accurate, Mike has also said it's not going to be EDM
