Impressive that Mike has put all this together beginning July 20th 2017 - June 15th 2018. An 11 month turnaround of a full album, accompanying art, video, and marketing efforts. This goes beyond creativity.
Gadamn. Just heard "Nothing Makes Sense Anymore" and holy moly guacamole is that some damn good music.
First time I heard the last phrase "This is not a goodbye now, I’m not going away, No I don’t have the answers but I do have the faith" I felt and thought the same as you wrote there... Either way I´ll continue supporting Mike and the guys. I think they just dont know what will happen still and Mike wrote the struggles down in this song.
I would say that if LP are indeed continuing, as evidenced by their 'intentions of continuing' (quoting a Mike Shinoda tweet) we're probably years off from that. Mike said recently in Kerrang! that such a future could only happen once everyone's 'grieving process' is 'synced' and I have a feeling it'll be a very long time before that happens for all 5 of them.
This is exactly my thoughts too. Place To Start was the best song. The other songs are great too, but I can't see myself replaying them constantly. NMSA is pretty damn good tho.
Do you think age will play a factor? Say it takes 5 years to get to that place, Joe will be 47 years old. Rob will be 45. Ect. At that point do they continue even if they are in the right place?
Whatever happens it'll definitely be a clean slate for the band. But Mike won't let us down. Even if Linkin Park does not do another album for another 10 or so years that man will not stop creating. He's just too much of a hard worker and loves the fans too much. That's how I see it.
The circumstances are tragic, but there is a spontaneous edge to the new released music that really takes you by the guts. I will buy and this and totally support Mike, whether LP eventually continue or not.
I love these songs. But I just can't help and picture Nothing Makes Sense Anymore in Chester's voice and how amazing it would've sounded with this music. Also, Mike won't read this. But I LOVE YOU. Keep doing what you do. LP, not LP. Just keep doing this and being this awesome person. Same.
You know how some days just totally kick your ass and destroys your mood? Yeah i had one of those only to come home to this news. Needless to say my day is suddenly going better lol.
I really wanted to get the bundle but I just don't have the funds for that right now. So I guess I'll stick with just the album purchase. Woe is me
Another thing for the people concerned about some of the CAL lyrics, it took Alice In Chains 7 years after Layne passed to come out with a new album with a new vocalist. And those guys were in their late 40s when that happened too. So it could be a very long time before the band continues on, but no, I don't think age will be a factor. The only factor I think that will get in the way of the band continuing, is just them not feeling right carrying on without Chester. And if that's their choice, then so be it. At least we know Mike will continue to write and record .
Hey everyone, it's once again been quite a while since I last posted. I hope everyone's doing alright, and that the fanbase as a whole is beginning to recover emotionally and mentally, from what is no doubt the absolute worst thing to have happened to Linkin Park. I just listened to the new songs from our boy Mike, and they were great. "Nothing Makes Sense Anymore" is my favorite of the two, and might be my favorite song from Post Traumatic, so far. The lyrics are just so heartfelt and genuine, that they carry the songs each time. I've noticed that the instrumentation is at times minimal, but is also intricately layered at other times. If this side release is an indication that Mike will be the permanent lead vocalist from now on, the future of the band is looking brighter now. P. S. If Chester is out there, somewhere in the great beyond, I just know that he would be incredibly proud of his former bandmates, and what they are striving to do in this period of intense grief.
