Mike Gives Details Regarding ATS & Album Length

+1. Seriously, good beats can go a long way in a song! Forget the length! Derek's right BTW, this will still be plenty long!

No worries of length, it's so damn easy to create an one-hour album. just repeat verses chrous and instrumentals again and again. Quality first.

I'm gonna go ahead and say 45-50 minutes is legit, (But I'm sure he really just means "45 minutes and some change") but I wish he'd comment on the track LENGTHS that have been speculated based on that six track sampler. He's only commented on the claim of there being twelve tracks, and the other six being rock tracks.


Although Mike has downplayed quite a few things about this album already. I remember him insisting we "forget" everything we had assumed about September 14th, bombs, etc. particularly after message 4 which revealed the album title and "september" with a bit between that looked just like a "14". Sure enough here the album is ready for a 9/14 release. He also tried to dismiss the concept album theories but there's no way in hell this isn't a concept album. It may not tell a story but it has a unifying theme and atmosphere.

Between all this and the horrible sketchiness of "Featuring You" thus far, I'm not buying into much more album info until I have it in my hands [Read: Torrent folder] and that's the safest way to play it, as exciting as this all can be.

So did anyone watch the X games? Did they play any unheard clips?

 

There was an instrumental section that from what I've heard wasn't anything new, played faintly in the background of some announcements. There's a link in another news post from today.

 

It just makes me glad that I wasn't crazy enough to sit there all day watching the X games. Thanks!

 

I don't think the album is necessarily "long" by any means, this is not a complaint, just a simple observation. Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" could be considered "long," as it clocks in at 66:47.

With that said, I did hope to see at least another 10 minutes or so added onto the album, and all of this quality vs quantity talk I rather disagree with, as with so much time spent in the studio / prep work, I could easily see at least 2 more 3-4 minute tracks making the album.

Despite this, I am very excited, and cannot wait for the day I'm sitting back enjoying it.

 

50 minutes is acceptable. The Catalyst seems like it's the longest song on the album.

 

The more FM influence, the better. I'd also like to add that 45 minutes is a good length for a cd. Not sure why people are complaining. This is their longest cd besides Reanimation.

 

Why are we so worried about the length? I do believe this is their 2nd longest album? We should be more excited about how ATS will have "some of the best beats" LP has ever made!

 

I was expecting a longer album (due to the fact that the deluxe set has 2 vinyls), but I'm still pleased with 45 minutes for sure.
